It was a good location - close to town & some interesting features on the property. Wanted to love it. However, we were disappointed. The amenities advertised were not available + we didn’t feel it was worthwhile. No shower (our main reason for booking) - were told they were, “working on it.” The “site” was literally pulling over off the driveway. The outdoor sink was full of gunk which made it so unappealing we didn’t even try using it. No orientation to the property (verbally or with signage) and the fellow who answered the door didn’t introduce himself or give us a run down of how to access any of the advertised amenities except, as mentioned above, answered our question about the showers. Also, we had messaged the host a couple times in the day (first asking to check in early + when not hearing back we went on with our day, then messaged when we were coming back from our day around 8:30pm). We didn’t get responses to those messages, nor was our call when we arrived on site answered and we knocked at the door for about 5 minutes for an answer. It was disappointing as we booked this site over Charlie Lake Provincial which was half the price for a much nicer experience (we stayed there a few nights prior) or one of the closer to town RV campgrounds. We feel we would have had a better experience at one of those sites. We left first thing in the morning and had to get showers at the local rec centre.

If you're looking for a place to recharge your batteries, you've come to the right place. A sunny pitch in the middle of the green garden, enjoying your morning coffee in peace and quiet is simply wonderful!
When Garry is on site, you can learn a lot about the life of the Doig River First Nations.
However, Boreal Gardens is a place to relax and unwind.

Meet and greet with owner Garry was one of a kind; appreciated the time and awareness he showed. He presented different options for camping out, however, the rain clouds had other plans for me! I was able to sit out & really enjoy one areas of the land before my pup and I had to spend the night in our vehicle (she’s scared of storms). Would be a really cool spot to stop again and be able to use one of the unique areas for camping! Outhouse was new and clean (and very cute); always a perk! Parking available on driveway. Animal friendly!!

Boreal Forest Gardens and Camping
We really enjoyed the serene atmosphere of Garry’s beautiful botanical gardens and the small extra gestures he provided to make our stay more enjoyable. A retreat for the weary! As added bonus we appreciated hearing about the history of the land and the indigenous community’s story.

We have been camping for years now and this place is one of the best! They have a big land with about 30 gardens, dome garden, teepees for tent and there’s even an area to camp that already has a mini rv. There’s also trails you can explore. The place is very calming,
quiet and beautiful. The owners are very accomodating too! Would go back again! ❤️
