We have working dogs, sheep, cattle, horses, a couple goatsWe have some super great animals. Most of which are very friendly. You never know what will be available to see on the farm when you visit. We are expecting a foal (baby horse) this summer (2021) and are already planning for another foal next summer as well. We often have puppies as well and sometimes we have to bottle feed lambs. There's never a dull moment. Our farm is unique in the way of having a very positive VIBE to it. The energy is awesome! It's really a space of tranquility and healing if you allow yourself to go there. After hosting with air bnb for a little over a year now, we decided to give this a try as well. We love hosting people and having them come to the farm and enjoy our way of life. It also helps to have a supplemental income as having and running a small family farm isn't very sustainable. Typically there's off the farm jobs to help pay for the farm life. It's a crazy equation. Small family farms are far and few between. Please support your local farmer if possible! I really enjoyed our stay here, it was the perfect place to try out our new truck bed tent. There was so much wood to collect from the forest to have a fire and enjoy the outdoors, I really got to enjoy the wild life. The outhouse is very cute. Michael was a very nice host and very informative and has great communication. If you’re looking to get away from the “city” with access to everything you need this is just that place for you.

This little hidden gem is perfect for those in southeast Michigan who want that up north feeling—without the long drive or the bears. The site I stayed at was incredibly spacious, and well laid out. The amenities were thoughtful, with a fire extinguisher right at the pit making it the safest setup I’ve used. The trails were a nice bonus, good for a relaxed walk through the trees. Firewood was plentiful and good quality. Because it’s not rural, you do occasionally hear traffic in the distance, but it fades into the background. At night, what stands out are the crickets and forest sounds. Overall, it’s spacious, safe, well-stocked, and tucked away in the trees. I'm already planning my return trip!

Scenic as it gets - lovely place - nice people - way out rural but there’s a small town not far to get supplies - the pool is a nice plus - dog friendly - and a fun glimpse into small farming life with two really decent, nice honest people.

Look no further……STAY HERE! Place was awesome and so was the host. Property is beautiful with lots of diff trees. Short drive to beaches if you’re looking to take a dip. Stores close by if you need anything. Little town looked cool too. We’ll be back to further explore. Thank you Michael!

We were so happy to be accepted on such a short same day notice! MICHAEL was awesome, great communication and care! We loved our stay under the stars, listening to all the birds and the frog concert was awesome. We had a great fire with all the wood that was in the forest. We enjoyed our stay and loved the quiet and serenity of the property. The outhouse was just extra cute, so cozy and thoughtful! Thank you for having us even with an oversized Sprinter !!!

The farm was wonderful! This was my 2nd time staying at this property and would recommend if you are looking for a relaxing and quiet farm stay! The horses were so friendly and would walk up for pets and we got to spend time with the new Pyrenees puppies. Doreen is super helpful, friendly and a great host!

What a beautiful property! we loved waking up to the horses in the field. Doreen was very accommodating and helpful. The property was clean and the outhouse was well kept. She was very kind with our kids and even showed us how she cared for her cow and horses. We stayed 2 nights because we were passing through but wish we could’ve stayed longer it was such a nice little paradise. Would highly recommend for anyone who’s looking for a little bit of farm life and tranquility. Thank you Doreen and family for your hospitality. We wish you all the very best.

Where to go

Pinery Provincial Park

Up the coast lies Pinery Provincial Park—an oak savanna and coastal dune ecosystem with extreme biodiversity among its beaches and nature trails There is year-round fishing and boating available on the lake. Campers can stay at one of many campsites in the park for both tents and RVs with electrical hookups, firepits, and picnic tables. Some waterfront campsites are also available. Then, rent kayaks and canoes to explore freshwater coastal dunes, or observe endangered animals, birds, and butterflies in their natural environments. Cabin rentals and glamping yurts with bunk beds and air conditioning can also be reserved on site for an enhanced experience.

A.W. Campbell Conservation Area

Family oriented and pet friendly, A.W. Campbell Conservation Area is just 40 minutes east of Sarnia. This reservoir conservation area is part of the St. Clair River watershed system and offers watersport activities like swimming and boating all summer long. Hike nature trails through deciduous forests, or rent a paddleboat to explore the floodplain before retiring to campsites with full hookups, modern restrooms, and laundry facilities. Campers can also enjoy biking trails along Morrough Creek to see more natural trees and wildflowers.

Grand Bend Beach

Grand Bend Beach is a Blue Flag designation for sustainability, education, and safety. The beach itself also has a free lending program for amphibious wheelchairs. Nearby, private campgrounds offer cabin, RV, and glamping campsites close to the water and include modern amenities like air conditioning. Or rent one of two dune cottages available on the beach. After setting up camp, sunbathe on sandy shores, or attend a performance at Rotary Community Stage. Campers with children can also visit the splash pad and playgrounds on-site.

When to go

Sarnia has a humid continental climate with summer heat occurring later in the year. Temperatures during this season are typically between 15°C to 24°C. Sometimes, lake effect can bring snow in winter. But with a yearly average snowfall of only 112 centimeters, year-round camping is still optimal in the area. Expect winter temperatures to stay around 2°C on average.
