We live in a little off-grid cabin deep in the Yalakom Valley in a small community of rustic-living and friendly folks. Please note that this property is located 40 km outside of Lillooet. Part of the road is a dirt road and a bit bumpy, best for cars that don't mind roughing it a little bit. You also lose service 5 minutes outside of Lillooet. The property is surrounded by private lots. You can explore ours down to the river or you can drive to other locations like the Horsehoe (a great swim spot), Carpenter Lake (great for swimming, too), Lac La Mere (good for fishing), Carol Lake, and much more.
This is a somewhat rustic and rugged spot- if you are looking for fancy glamping this is not the space for you! Vancouverites, you've been warned!

Weekend Trip to Deep Mountain Sea Cabin
Great spot in a quiet, peaceful location with beautiful views to wake up to. We planned to do more but ended up mostly chilling around the cabin (highly recommend the outside daybed!) and walking my dog to the river. Ren was really accommodating for my reactive dog, left the lights on for us as we were arriving late and provided some yummy home grown vegetables. Would love to stay again!

We had such an amazing time at Anderson Lake! The Yurt was cozy and comfortable, the outdoor kitchen made cooking so easy and scenic, and the property was absolutely breathtaking! It is totally worth the drive and such a cool way to experience the area! Absolutely book the sauna, and bring your paddle boards if you can! Can’t wait to come back next year! :)

Weekend Trip to Lake Glamping with Beach and Sauna
We had a wonderful stay at Anderson Lake. The yurts are beautiful, spotless, and well organized. It’s the perfect place for a peaceful getaway, and the lake itself is absolutely stunning.
A few important tips before you go:
• You must have an off-road vehicle — ideally 4WD or AWD. A sedan will not make it.
• After navigating the rough road, you’ll park and then hike down a narrow path to your yurt. Carrying luggage, coolers, and gear can be challenging, as we had to make multiple trips.
• The lake is about a 5–6 minute hike down from the yurts.
• There are only two yurts on site. If the other one isn’t booked, you’ll be alone in the forest and campground — which might feel too isolated for some.
Overall, it’s a beautiful and unique experience with plenty of hiking involved. Just be prepared for the physical effort, and you’ll have an unforgettable stay

It was a very quiet and peaceful place. The porta-potties were odorless and very clean, and clean water was always available.
The campsite was large and open enough to fit over 5 tents, and I enjoyed seeing the stars very clearly at night.
If I get the chance, I would love to come back with a group of friends to share this experience. Thank you DOUG for providing such a pleasant place to stay.

What a fantastic glamping spot! We had a great time and were so happy that our dogs could be off-leash and enjoy the semi-private beach. The lake is crystal clear and the whole vibe is incredibly tranquil. The site is well-maintained, the dry pit is clean, and the outdoor shower with hot water was a highlight. The solar power for basic lighting worked perfectly.
For future improvements, a portable fan would be a huge help, especially on hot summer nights, as it got a bit too warm inside the yurt. We also found that cooking inside wasn't realistic; the detached kitchen on the other yurt is a smart design.
Be warned about the roads! An AWD vehicle is a must from either D'Arcy or Lilooet, as some slopes are steep. The beach is a short walk away, but it's a 70m altitude change, which is tough with gear like a paddleboard. Lastly, be prepared for biting flies, which are naturally occurring and not a reflection of cleanliness.

Weekend Trip to Lake Glamping with Beach and Sauna
Our stay on Anderson Lake was incredible! The Yurt was super cozy and cute. We enjoyed a fire in the yurt and late nights star gazing from bed while we watched Harry Potter. The lake is so clear and blue which was perfect for swimming the day away and kayaking, and when we weren’t in the water, we were lounging on the beach in the sun. Plus the sauna took our trip to another level! This was such a lovely getaway, we felt like we were in the middle of nowhere with so much privacy during our stay. Propane fire was available to buy and the outdoor kitchen came with pretty much everything you’d need. The only thing to note is that the drive in to the Yurt was definitely a little scary at times (I wouldn’t feel comfortable driving in a 2WD) and the walk from the parking lot to the yurt and the walk from the yurt to the beach were mini hikes in their own right! Short walks but steep. Totally worth the effort though, would come back.

We loved the cabin! It has everything you need as is super cozy. The skylights are a really nice touch. It stayed cool enough for our dog during the hotter days too. I loved this place so much. It’s remote and wild, yet totally charming and comfortable. I was looking for a nature experience and considered camping, but I wanted electricity and wifi to get some work done — this gave me all that and SO much more. Great soaking tub, private back deck, full kitchen, and the best host ever! Ren was respectful of my privacy and also made me feel so welcome in this amazing place, bringing me treats from the beautiful garden and showing me around this very special land. I hope to make it back again!

My experience here was wonderful! The yurt and outdoor kitchen came equipped with more necessities than I expected and the lake and mountain backdrop was so beautiful. The beach access felt quite private and a was great spot for a morning dip and reading a book. The sauna experience was very worth it. The host was very kind, helpful, and responsive. Look forward to returning one day!

The land was beautiful, right out there in the backcountry. Nice hikes and a lot of activities are offered. We did a hike up the mountain, 21,5 km and 1.146m ascend. Magnificent view from the mountain ridge. Lots of bear tracks and poo as well, bring spray. We’ve had 2 black bear sightings in 2 days. That’s how close to nature you are there. The Chilcotin family was very nice and helpful. Giving a lot of tips and suggestions. Kevin seems to have a good understanding of the wilderness and surroundings. We were there for 2 days with my parents but had it been longer then I’d definitely tried the guided wilderness course. All in all a great experience in natural surroundings. Absolutely loved our three days at the cabin - just the right amount of comfort without overindulgence. It's a bit out there but that guarantees peace and quiet.
The cabin is very well crafted and there's great attention to detail to the staying experience. The kitchen, wood burning stove, skylights and comfortable beds certainly enhanced our experience.
What made it even better were the lovely hosts, the nice walk down to the river, and beautiful views.

Where to go
Nairn Falls Provincial Park
Right in Pemberton, about five minutes from downtown, the crown jewel of this park is its 60-metre cascade, which tumbles, white and raucous, into a sapphire pool below. Walk the 1.5-kilometre trail to a viewpoint over the falls, and when you’re ready to cool off, take the two-kilometre trail to the swimming area at One Mile Lake.
Garibaldi Provincial Park
Just south on Highway 99, this massive, 1,800-square-kilometre park is named for the 2,678-metre Mount Garibaldi. Swim at five lakes, hike 90 kilometres of trail, cycle, climb, fish, or canoe—you won’t run out of outdoor options. And keep your eyes open for wolverines, cougars, and both black and grizzly bears.
Birkenhead Lake Provincial Park
Picture it—snow-capped peaks reflected in still waters—and you’ll get an idea of what this park is all about. Bike the eight-kilometre Birkenhead Lake Trail, fish for kokanee and rainbow trout, swim at the sandy beach, then hike to Goat Lookout for an overview of it all (and maybe spot a few goats along the way).
When to go
This part of the mountains can be complicated, with climate zones and weather systems varying wildly, even just a few kilometres apart. Like anywhere in this part of Canada, summer brings the best weather, especially if you plan to swim—cold, glacier-fed lakes finally warm up a bit by August. Early autumn is very pleasant although evenings cool off very quickly, and winters tend to be mild but rainy.
Know before you go
- Highway 99—also known as the Sea-to-Sky Highway—connects Vancouver with Whistler and Pemberton. During weekends, especially in high season, it can be extremely busy.
- Pemberton is a very small town, so it’s best to stock up on camping gear at one of the several shops in Whistler (or even better, a big store like Mountain Equipment Co-op in Vancouver).
- If you’re looking for a night on the town, wash up and head to Whistler, just down the road for its dining, distilleries, and bars. But if you’re seeking solitude? Keep heading up the highway, which plunges into forest and peaks all the way to the horizon.
