Great Northern Cabin - Olyp Natl Pk
5 stars out of 5, strongly recommend. This cabin provided exactly what we were looking for. The location is excellent, we were able to get in a hike one day, and SUP on Lake Cushman the next without having to spend too long in the car either day. The town is also close if you need to run in to the store or check out a local bar/restaurant. The cabin itself was large, you could easily sleep 4 adults and two kids upstairs and the living room and kitchen didn't feel at all cramped. We appreciated being able to use the full kitchen and the shared grill to prepare meals. The cabin comes with a huge wrap around deck, outdoor picnic table, and two different fire options (propane and wood burning). We found it to be the optimal mix of cozy and woodsy, and despite a heat wave the place never got too warm. The owner was responsive to all of our messages and we enjoyed chatting with him, and getting to spend time with his incredibly chill dog, Moon. All in all, we are big fans and plan to come back the next time we are in the area.

Lake Cushman RV Campsite
Relaxing time near Lake Cushman
We enjoyed our time at Bill’s place and appreciate Bill’s diligence in talking with us ahead of time to make sure it was a good match and telling us about the area and things to do and enjoy. His site is well set up and it was relaxing to be in our part of the property with our campervan. The folks renting the house and the other couple staying in Bill’s camper for the weekend were all really nice - and the site is set up well to allow separate spaces, which was nice. We enjoyed hiking nearby, the lake and walking and biking in the neighborhood. Definitely recommend it if you are in the area.

Lake Cushman private campsite
Camp Hollister and Lake Cushman!
We booked this site as a last minute getaway for Labor Day weekend and shortly after booking, discovered all local lake Cushman access and access to the popular Staircase trails were closed/restricted along with a fire ban implemented. Bill however was a gracious host and was good with quick communications so we could plan accordingly. Bill also accommodated our request to have our well mannered dog on board. While we were initially looking forward to all the outdoor recreation, we were grateful that Bill's property came with Private lake and park access. The site worked well for our party of 2 (plus dog) however we were surprised to see how much it lacked privacy. The trailer is situated on a side lot shared with a main House/cabin (occupied by tenants). Behind the trailer is second Hipcamp space Bill rents out for RV/Tent campers. The property sits amongst a community dotted by cabins, empty lots, trailers, and residential along the main road. Although everyone was friendly the site is wide open to both roads. The trailer itself had an excellent Floorplan and works best for 2 adults or 2 adults and small children. We did not utilize the trailer to the full capacity except as home base for sleeping and restroom. Pros- Cute community with amazing private lake access. Everyone was very friendly. That alone was worth the stay and price. It also has an awesome "camp" feel set up with picnic table, community propane grill and fire pit (due to burn ban, we used our portable propane pit). We also appreciated Hot water showers after a day of swimmimg. Good WIFI while on property which helped us to look at maps and plan our day excursions-okay so we weren't totally off grid. And can i just say PRIVATE LAKE CUSHMAN ACCESS! What a beautiful lake! Con- (very minor) While this is a lot in a private community nestled among covering trees, the space was not private at all. The trailer was also lacking some commodities to be fully functional- but we were prepared and managed with what we packed in. We arrived to find a few issues with cleanliness in the trailer and on the grounds itself and reported it right away. Lastly all of the private community parks and lake access required passes and were actively patrolled. You have to have Bill's decal pass or make sure you get a pass for ALL DAYS- we missed out on access for Labor Day itself which ended our stay earlier upon check out. Suggestions to Host- Please keep basics like cleaning supplies and handsoap for those that like to keep spaces clean and germ free throughout their stay. Also having a few kitchen staples on hand is a must when camping or trailer camping-foil, scissor, can opener, microwave safe bowls/plates/cups, and soup and sauce pans. Lastly please add detailed maps to the private parks and trails around the community. Again cons always are tough to write but none of the above would negate our experience- we definitely would love to come back and stay again soon and longer.

Lake Cushman private campsite
We loved staying here! It was perfect for our family summer get away and felt like we had our own private campsite. The RV was clean and in great shape. It had enough space for our family of 4. Our kids loved the bunk beds, the trampoline and cooking s'mores in the fire pit. Access to the private parks/beaches along Lake Cushman was an added bonus as they were not that busy at all during the week. Bill was a very friendly, gracious host. He had lots of good recommendations for things to do in the area and overall great guy. We would definitely come back again!

Lake Cushman private campsite
We stayed in Bill’s trailer for one night. It was very nice and clean. It was really close to the local waterfronts of the lake, which is beautiful! We wished that there was a little more privacy while staying at the trailer, it’s in Bill’s side yard and you can see/hear everyone in the main house and yard that’s a few feet away. It’s also set in a neighborhood, you are surrounded by houses (there was a neighbor mowing his lawn at one point.) The highway is also right next to the property so there’s traffic noise. Bill and his family seem like very nice people, I just think people should know those few things because we went into it thinking we’d be in a quiet forest setting.
