The mighty Ord River is one of Western Australia's most scenic and significant waterways. At various points along its length you can go cruising and canoeing between stunning gorges, see crocodiles and amazing birdlife, catch an elusive barramundi, go swimming and jet skiing. The Aboriginal meaning for the word Kununurra is "big waters" or the "meeting of the waters". This property is located on farmland high on a range overlooking the stunning Ord Valley. There are two main campsite locations, each with its own amazing views and all well away from each other.Nearby you will find the Ord River for fishing activities and very close by are examples of local Indigenous art. The property is home to some friendly poddy calves and hundreds and hundreds of stunning boab trees.The peace, serenity and safety is amazing. You will be a 10 minute drive from the centre of Kununurra but a world away from the stresses of life. The farm is 780Ha so you will not be in each other’s way. Campers must be self-contained with own camping toilet/shower and water supply. There is no water or power facilities available out here. Please note that no open fires are allowed, all fires must be in the designated fire pit. Your pet dog is welcome to join you.

Travel the old drover's track [now a scenic road - Parry Creek Road] to Hairy Dog's Fishing Camp and Lazy Dog campsite, located on the banks of the Ord River, home to the famous sportfish - barramundi. Tropical wildlife, lots of birdlife and crocodiles coexist here and you have river views, access to boat ramps, local attractions including a bird sanctuary. Set above highwater mark, the campsite sits safely on the riverbank with views of the historical landmark on the Bend of the Ord, House Roof Hill. Birdlife twitters about all day (and some through the night), while agile wallabies hop on by. Trees for shade and water for cooking/washing make for a comfortable campsite. A shared and well-maintained ablution block contains 2 showers and 2 flush toilets for all to use. You can enjoy an open fire at our large fire-pit. If you have your own boat, it can be launched and moored from the camp's boat ramp. No kayaks, canoes or floating-type watercraft are able to be used in this section of the river due to the large crocodiles that live here. A plunge pool is available for a 'cool off'. Our campgrounds are a good one hour drive from Kununurra or Wyndham and about 1.5 hours to the Gibb River Road. Be sure your vehicle is set for dirt road with good tyres including spares and water for yourself. This is non mobile phone country so take care and travel to conditions. Very responsive and helpful host. Katie Mary was very generous to us during our stay. A fantastic location, with nicely designed, comfortable accomodation. Peaceful, shady and spacious grounds right on the river. Absolutely recommend giving yourselves the pleasure of recovering here and exploring the local area after a few weeks camping in the Kimberley. The view of sunrise over the river and Elephant Rock is a beauty.

What a great spot. From the powered site it was about 250 meters to the banks of the Ord River. They have grassed a nice area there with tables and chairs. There is also a BBQ there and a fire pit. I met Katie Mary and her family and they were so welcoming. We were only there for 2 nights but I would have liked to stay another few nights but we had previously booked other places. I would recommend these sites to everyone.

Stayed at site 2. Nice and spacious with shady trees. Was nice and quiet. Short walk to the water where we sat and watched the boats go bye. Fire pits is at the river. Easy drive to town. Recommended.

Such a beautiful spot right on the river in Kununurra, with stunning views of Elephant Rock and a magical boab tree silhouetted by the sunset. The road in takes you past lush cotton fields, setting the scene for a serene stay. So many birds around — it’s a birdwatcher’s dream! Quiet, scenic, and full of Kimberley charm. Highly recommend.

Shady riverfront relaxation area a short stroll from your campsite. Outlook was fantastic and nice at night with an open fire.
Campsite large, very accessible and grassy. Very private, well off the main road.
Listening to the birds and wildlife was very tranquil and spotting a freshie float or in the river was a bonus.
Would highly recommend!!

We stayed four nights. Convenient to town if you have transport. Great freedom for our dogs and lots of space. Hooked up to water, though needed a longer hose. Power extra $10/night, but no 15amp outlet so for caravans you'll need a adapter to 10amp. Dump point in town ($5 at oval). Would stay again.

Lovely place on the river to enjoy the serenity. Site 1 and 2 are excellent with much shade (site 2 does have machinery but can set up to block and then allows a private auditorium under the trees). We loved being able to have our dogs off leads for 2 days. The short 1 min walk to the river with table chairs bbq and fire pit were appreciated and we set up there from morning coffee until sunset each day.

Lovely shady site only a short drive back to town. Beautiful bird calls at dawn and perfect temperature evenings in late June. Couldn’t swim in the river due to lots of muck hugging the shore but a 10 minute drive to the Swim Beach was perfect where we watched Rainbow Bee-eaters catching insects on the wing.
So much better than a caravan park if you are self contained.
