Fickle Break Farm is a 28-acre coastal property on the doorstep of a world-class surf break, only 30 mins from Hobart. You can walk out the door with your surfboard, bike, or running shoes and jump in the ocean or onto several beautiful coastal walking and riding trails. We are 10 minutes away from Lauderdale shops and 10 mins to the best surf beaches in Hobart on the South Arm Peninsula. Pitch your tent or park your set up on our beautiful grassy hilltop campsite overlooking the South Arm Peninsula and Mt Wellington in the distance. You'll enjoy good access to Mays Point surf break and the Clarence Coastal Trail just a few mins away with walking tracks to Cremorne and Lauderdale along the coast. The camping area has a communal fire pit, access to fresh water and power in our large shed if needed, and a table tennis table. We are on tank water, so please be mindful of this. And please drive slowly and be mindful of treading lightly on the land. We also offer a 5m lotus belle stargazer tent, situated at the very top of the property, nestled amongst the native trees and with water views, it has a luxurious queen-sized bed with beautiful linens and is a short walk away from the walking tracks to the beach. All guests have access to our well-maintained composting toilet with water views and a beautiful hot outdoor shower that is open to the sky. Next door is a large sheep property, and on our land we have friendly chooks, peacocks, Guinea pigs, miniature goats, horses and a border collie. Guests and children are welcome to pat, feed and cuddle the chooks, Guinea pigs, horses and the miniature goats! Dogs are welcome as long as they are friendly with other dogs and people, and can be trusted not to escape to the next-door sheep property (beware as farmers can be ruthless with dogs!). They will need to be supervised and restrained (tied up or placed in our closed-in yard at night so they don’t disturb wallabies and other wildlife). We love meeting new people and are passionate about our beautiful property so we can’t wait to share it with you!@ficklebreakfarm on Instagram Pitch your tent or park your set up on our beautiful grassy hilltop farm overlooking the South Arm peninsula and Mt Wellington in the distance. We are a young family who love to share our special property with other likeminded people. We are totally kid friendly and dog friendly and the vibe at our campsite is very much like you’re a part of the family. Lots of privacy, but our farm has a wonderful sense of community with lots going on and we love our campers to be a part of it. CHECK IN Check in is from 2pm onwards. Please try not to show up earlier than this as we likely won’t be there to show you in. If you do want to come early, get in touch to arrange it with us beforehand. Check out is before 12noon. If you want to check in late at night please arrange with us beforehand so we can give you instructions. SITE & ACCESS We are 15-20 mins from the airport, 30 mins from Hobart, and 5 mins from Lauderdale shops which has excellent food and fruit and vege, petrol, gas, post office and chemist, and a bottle shop. Access to the campground is via our long dirt driveway through the coastal forest of the lower property, past the tiny home and the horse paddocks up to the top of the hill. Follow the signs to the campsite past the main house, entering at the large longboard surfboard sign, and go slow watching out for wildlife and kids! Each campsite is marked by a stone coloured solar light. First come first serve. AMENITIES The site has multiple individual fire drums you can move around to your chosen site. There is access to a tap with fresh rain water for drinking, but we can NOT provide filling up of larger tanks. You can fill water tanks at the service station at Shoreline shopping centre, 15 mins away. We have a brand new, beautifully designed compost toilet overlooking the ocean and rolling farmland, set amongst the privacy of our bush land and close to our campsites. There is a pathway with solar lights leading you to the toilet. We have an outdoor shower available also, please take care to conserve our precious rain water and only use natural products. We have 6 fully leveled flat pads with gravel big enough for large caravans. Plus lots of great little nooks for swags and tents. We have 2 powered sites available via long extension leads from our shed if required. The site also has a trampoline, hammocks, and swings… full access to our large communal shed with a big table tennis table, fairy lights, a couch and speakers for music. We also have toys, kites, bikes and games for kids. EXPERIENCES The campsite is on the top of the hill with close access to the fickle but amazing Mays Point surf break and the Clarence Coastal Trail just a few mins away with walking tracks to Cremorne and Lauderdale along the coast. Follow the pathways and the signs to the hill and enjoy a sunset beer overlooking the ocean. We are 30 mins to Hobart, 15-20 mins to the airport, and 5-10 mins to the nearby surf beach Clifton Beach which is patrolled with flags during summer. The Cape Deslacs walk is amazing too. There are many amazing day trips to do from your base with us. Talk to us for recommendations. Also talk to us if you want to book the entire site to yourself as this can be arranged also. FARM ANIMALS and WILDLIFE We have 4 miniature goats, 3 Guinea pigs, 17 baby chickens, 4 guinea fowl and bunnies to entertain the kids, and the chooks provide fresh eggs for you too. We also have a friendly border collie called Coru, who will greet you on arrival and we welcome other friendly dogs and pets. We have six beautiful horses that live in the lower paddocks on the property. Lots of sheep next door on the commercial sheep farm. Please be careful with children as our property has lots of comings and goings so take care around the driveways, and make sure to supervise children with the animals so they are gentle and shut gates etc. Please drive slowly down the driveway especially at dusk and at night as we have lots of wallabies, bandicoots and bettongs that share our home. We also have horses agisted in our lower paddocks. LAST MINUTE BOOKINGS/WALK INS ***Please do not just show up at our property without a booking. We are a small campground and we have young children running around so we prefer booking ahead especially if it’s summer season. If you don’t have a booking, call Sammy ahead before driving up. 0403247130. FIREWOOD ***firewood is BRING YOUR OWN. No fires on total fire ban days and no fires if windy.

Incredible property and incredible stay!! Julie’s property was easy to find following the instructions (and we arrived in the dark), had all the facilities you need (the hot outdoor shower was a DREAM after being on the road), easy to access power, the sweetest little goats and the best part - a stunning southerly view where we were able to capture the Aurora 😍🤩 thank you for our incredible stay, and literally helping to tick off my #1 bucket list item! Highly recommend

Unforgettable Night Under the Aurora: Our one-night stay at this campsite was truly an unforgettable experience. The location was incredibly peaceful and offered breathtaking views. We were delighted by the presence of farm animals, which added to the tranquility of the setting. Sam and Julie were exceptionally welcoming and friendly. We had a wonderful time interacting with them and their lovely dog, Coru. However, the absolute highlight of our stay was witnessing a magnificent display of the aurora australis on Saturday night. The fact that this was a G5 strength occurrence (one in the last 20 years) made the experience even more magical. If you are seeking a place to unwind, connect with nature, and potentially witness a celestial marvel, this campsite is an ideal choice.

Intentionally rustic, great locale
It's a great location and the outdoor toilet with a view and outdoor, but protected, shower are a great idea. BUT. There are no wash up or other facilities, which they do make clear in their information. That feels like it's a bit expensive for what you're getting. The dirt road leading to the property is serviceable but you need to be careful if driving a rented vehicle as your hire company may ping you for using an unsealed road. The proprieters are great and our kids LOVED the goats and the dog.

We had a good stay here, and found Sam to be helpful and friendly. Access into the farm is on a narrow bumpy road, so caravaners be warned. We managed but it’s tight to get your van into some of the spots. The previous reviews mentioned overcrowding which wasn’t our experience but if all the sites had been booked it would have been tight. It has a lovely charm with the goats and the kids meandering playground, but the toilet was quite honestly hard to have to use. The windows meant that whilst on the loo, you could actually see other campers and walkers and was very disconcerting. Room with a view indeed! The smell was quite overpowering too. That all said, we had a lovely stay here. Camp fires at night were a treat (we had our own but there are a few around to use too) bring own firewood. Mini goats were a highlight - so cute!
