Primitive camping

Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.

Situated in the beautiful and secluded Rathdowney, Tuckeroo Cottages enjoys spectacular views of Mount Barney, Mount Maroon and Mount Lindesay. Perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle of city life, this gorgeous property provides a serene atmosphere, ideal for a few nights away. Native wildlife is in abundance including wallabies, bandicoots, koalas and many species of birds and frogs. The property sits on 49 acres and has a designated camping area at the rear of the grounds. The camping ground is a flat, well maintained paddock, surrounded by bushland. Accessible only by 4WD and NOT suitable for caravans. The camping ground contains a sheltered communal area, complete with log table and chairs. There is a very basic shower but no toilet facilities, therefore guests must be fully self-sufficient. Campfires are permitted in designated fire pits only, but may be subject to fire bans. Felling of trees is not permitted. Dog friendly, however all dogs must be on a lead at all times and all dog waste picked up. All rubbish must be taken on departure. No dirt bikes permitted. Please be respectful of other guests staying in the cabins. Situated 30 minutes south-west of Beaudesert, follow the signs to Rathdowney and then turn right onto Rathdowney-Boonah Rd, travel 9.5km and then turn left onto Forest Home Road. Tuckeroo Cottages is situated 1.15km on the left. Take the left driveway and follow the orange flags until you reach the camping ground. The local area is centred around tourism and there are ample activities to keep you occupied whilst visiting the Scenic Rim. Both Mount Barney and Mount Maroon offer hiking trails which will reward you with a spectacular view. Historical museums can be found in both Rathdowney and Boonah as well as cafes and art galleries. There are also a few local wineries and Maroon Dam is a short drive away if swimming, kayaking and jet skiing are more your thing.Pull up in your 4WD and pitch your tent. Cook a hearty meal on the campfire and then enjoy it in the communal shelter, complete with table and benches. Then sit back, relax and enjoy the sounds of the bush and the native wildlife whilst you unwind from everyday life. * not suitable for caravans due to access* * campers must be fully self-sustainable with own toilet and shower*

Lovely area with beautiful views, great camp grounds with advertised amenities. Was a quiet camp site even with campers coming and going each day. We, including our kitten, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Definitely a 4x4 track in, a fun little track nonetheless. Definitely recommend for a quiet trip away :)

A nice quiet spot.

A nice quiet spot for a few nights! We had a relaxing stay at Tuckeroo camp grounds. The track in is off camber and steep in parts but we managed to get our full offroad camper in with ease, although I would not recommend it to anything without good clearance. The sites are flat and grassy, just watch out for the large ants that nest in the middle of the site, otherwise a great location to get away from it all.

This spot is beautiful, peaceful and such a great location for checking out Mt Maroon, Mt Barney, The Lower portals and much more. Rachel the host is very kind and was very easy to communicate and deal with. Highly reccomend.
