Self Contained- Bush Camping

RV/tent site · Sleeps 7 · Vehicles under 45 ft
2 acres of Bush Camping available near the Highfields Pioneer Village entrance, nearby a little creek. Very basic no access to amenities from this site. Self Contained only. Not far from local shops and Highfields Tavern. Perfect for travelers needing a quick stop over. Campers must have their own camping toilet and take all rubbish and waste with them on departure. Ground does require levelling on this site.
A friend and I camped at Pioneer Village to attend a gravel cycling event that was being held at Meringandan. We had a great stay and will definitely stay again next time we are visiting the area. The campground itself was very quiet and peaceful and the toilets and shower were clean and well maintained. The Highfields Tavern is only a few minutes drive away and serves excellent meals, and there is also a Woolworths and bottle shop right next to the tavern too.
Nice place to camp, well maintained grass area to pitch a tent. Beautiful surroundings entrance to the Village and a lot to look at while you're there.
Nice spot, we pulled up along the fence line and had 2 beautiful Horses come visit us each day.
Grounds were kept clean and well maintained. Nice location to explore Highfields and Toowoomba from.
Nice and quiet, non powered sites. Lots of animals around which is nice. Showers and toilets are good, (not the Ritz, but if you want the Ritz, don't go camping or caravaning!) we'd be happy to stay again
Wonderful location, so close to Toowoomba. Glad we discovered this place, we will be back. Added bonus of being able to see the huge collection of Heritage memorabilia in the Pioneer Village.
Clean amenities and the people/volunteers around the place are lovely. We were the only people there for the majority of our stay so there wasn’t much going on but it’s a peaceful place to set up camp for a couple of days.
Wow! What a magical place. Feel like I stepped back in time. I stayed a week while my wife was in hospital while I stayed here, and the charity shown by all the volunteers in the many chats, check-ins, stories and cups of tea helped us get through.
The village is outstanding. Large grassed undefined sites stacks of room very quiet very secure. Gates open 24/7. Perfect for visiting Toowoomba. Toilets n showers older yet clean n perfectly functional. Friendly horses next door.
I love camping here. It's a very relaxing environment. Easy direct and easy access to the site. The animals only add characters to the paddock. Jody made me feel welcomed.
It's not a bad campsite, unfortunately the attached museum used the top half of the camping area as a dumping ground for various things like boats, trailers, wood, old machinery so it wasn't the most pleasant 1st impression but the hosts were friendly and the amenities clean
We really enjoyed our stay at Pioneer Village! The Village itself of Old Australiana is so quaint and very interesting to see. The damper is delicious! The volunteers were very friendly, kind and helpful! The animals living in and around the Village were a real treat to see!
Our camp site was very good. We had the place to ourselves a few nights during the week and it was very quiet, which we loved. And when others were there over the long weekends, everyone was well behaved, and all the sites were dark and quiet by 8-9pm. We liked our spot, and appreciated that we were allowed a powered site due to our medical requirements as 2 of us use CPAP machines. Thank you for accommodating us!
The cleaning of the toilets and shower needs to be amended so that they are given a thorough cleaning every single day! We could see that they were not being cleaned daily; in fact we saw the same "marks" in/on the toilet for over a week. This is not acceptable hygiene when multiple people, strangers, are using the same facilities. Improve on this, and it's a great spot to camp! Highly recommend!
Seemed a bit over priced for being a self sustainable caravan in the same site area as the tents but believe charge more, in addition to pay full price for the village pass on top seemed a bit overboard for what you get. Tried contacting Jody with no success but had outstanding customer service from Trevor who seemed like the only one to proper welcome and check in to see if we needed anything. Had a decent time but maybe just review pricing, overall our kids had a good experience with the animals and firefighters trucks especially the train ride.
We were there just for a quick stop over, easy to locate, plenty of room and the showers and toilets were very clean and tidy. As mentioned there is a timer on the shower but we all thought 5 mins each was plenty of time and not a concern for us. Excellent value for money as a family of 5 using the amenities. Extremely close to Highfields with plenty of options for dinner as well but still nice and quiet location to camp. Highly recommend
We loved tent camping here. Interesting location with the Pioneer Village and big cow, horses, geese, Guinea fowl, ducks. Soft grass to put the tent on and hot showers. Very affordable and a great spot to duck into Toowoomba for the flower festival.
We absolutely loved our camping holiday at Highfields Pioneer Park. We were shocked at how big the place is full of amazing things. Highly recommend. The facilities were great too.
