Unplug and unwind at our 22 acre camping paradise nestled amongst the rolling green hills of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Listen to the babbling water sounds of Scrubby Creek and the Mary River that meandering through the perimeter of the property for over 1 kilometer. Stroll through our little rainforest, paddle in the creek or have a dip in one of the many rock pools. We will even let you build as many rock towers as you like! Throw an inner tube in the creek and float around while the kids laugh and play all day long. Let the kids dig holes or fossick for the perfect skimming rocks, ride bikes or play endless games on the beautiful landscaped grass. Plenty of trees to put up that hammock or grab a soak in our outdoor bath with views overlooking the wilderness. Sit back and gaze at the starlit skies while the kids roast yet another marshmallow on the campfire. Snuggle up during winter and cool down around the rainforest in summer. Abundant wildlife, lots of kangaroos and wallabies, koalas and beautiful birds everywhere. Please be aware that weekends are family times and do get busy with extra people. During the week it is very quiet and you could have the whole place to yourself. Sites are allocated on weekends based on numbers and if you are camping with children and dogs. We have 10 large flat grassy sites nestled amongst trees. Campsites are far enough away from other campers to enjoy the privacy. Each site is large and can allow group bookings. Loads of space for tents, camper trailers, caravans or motorhomes. Pets permitted but must be restrained. We have 22 acres of natural bushland in the Conondale Valley, between Maleny and Kenilworth; in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. Less than an hour to Caloundra and Sunshine Coast beaches. Sites allocated on weekend, public and school holidays. We have endangered wildlife on the property including frogs in the creek. We are very passionate about protecting the habitat, so our property only suits eco-friendly campers who follow leave no trace principles. Sites are allocated by owner based on your group numbers, children, dogs and camp set up. A confirmation will be sent to you 24 hours before arrival with a site number and arrival instructions. Parts of our property may experience sudden flash flooding. Upon entering our property, you and your booking companions agree to adhere to all emergency protocols and instructions from our team. If instructed to relocate to higher ground, immediate compliance is essential for the safety of your family and our staff. We have two designated evacuation zones: the Top Paddock Emergency Area, situated by the silver shed at the check-in spot, and the Bottom Paddock Emergency Area, positioned within Gate 1 near the large tree log. Frequently Asked Questions - Firewood (hardwood) $20 per bag - Plenty of secluded spots, we only take limited bookings. All within 1 minute walk of the creek. - Campfires permitted upon consultation with the host. - Campers must be self-sufficient. We would prefer it if you have your own toilet and shower. This is not a dig a hole and bury facility. We have a back up toilet for you just in case. - Rubbish to be removed and disposed off site. Bins at corner of Kennedy and Aherns Rds are NOT to be used. These bins are solely for residents in the area. - Dogs permitted. Must be on leash at all times. - Please respect other campers comforts.

Not for us......
The hosts need to be more honest in their description of what they offer. Stroll though our little rainforest....little it is...very. 2 min walk through some trees. Outdoor bath overlooking the wilderness ? where is that? . Between each camp site you have just metres of trees which are to be honest lovely. A stream at the end of your site is very nice but kids are running through your site and area so if you want peace and quiet do not come at weekends. They do say weekends are family time to be fair and they are certainly that. The sites are not far away from others at all, 10/15ft at the most, hearing others conversations and music, This was not what we expected. Close enough for a baby to wake us at all hours. We did have a nice time, but the description of the place is NOT what you get. In the email after booking, it stated that fishing was not on site but a walk away.....No ,it is not. there is nowhere to walk to fish. A 20 min drive at the minimal. We did ask prior to arriving and the host did say fishing was not a walk away. You need to update that welcome message as it is very misleading for those who wish to fish. If you are a couple who want quite time, this would be great during the week and no school holidays but just be aware that weekends are certainly full of kids. We did honestly like our stay, just a little disappointed. Would we visit again? no, but for kids, it is a great area to run free and meet other kids and families. Kind regards.

We had a wonderful stay at Thea’s A Place to Call Home! A beautiful spot, surrounded by forest and crystal clear creek waters, citrus orchards and tree swings for the kids. Amenities were clean and totally adequate for camping experience. Hosts were absolutely lovely, approachable and eager to make our stay a pleasant one. We forgot our tent pegs and they let us borrow theirs to save a long trip home, we were so grateful! Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a fun family/friend weekend or a peaceful retreat away from technology and the daily grind.

We were a group of 6 with a dog and a toddler, a swag, a couple of roof top tents and a van. Gary & Thea were both super welcoming, they offered us a beautiful spot amongst the rainforest that felt very secluded. Most of the sites on the property would be besides the creek so you can’t go wrong with pitches. We’ll definitely be back - thank you!

Awesome
Just stayed 4 nights at a Place to call home. What can I say except this place never disappoints. Our second time there and love every minute of it. As usual Thea and Gary always go out of their way to help. Thanks again. Graham and Vicki

Beautiful spot, mostly grassy campsites. Ours was post wet weather so there was some muddy areas from vehicles driving but easily avoidable. lovely helpful owners.
