Wombat Flats is an exclusive, private camping area at the back of our 100 acres. It borders Watagan National Park and guests can access the park directly through our back gate for bushwalking activities. Our farm itself includes walking trails, a dam and plenty of native wildlife, including birds, wombats, wallabies, echidnas and reptiles. We are devoted to horses and care for a diverse herd that includes some rescue brumbies and other beautiful equines you may meet on your walks. The closest cafe (Bistro Eden, a popular spot for coffee and food) is 15 minutes drive, and the closest Coles/Woolworths is 20 minutes drive away at Morisset. The Hunter Valley is an easy 1 hour drive away, with many wineries and restaurants to choose from. Fishing activities in Dora Creek or Lake Macquarie (15 - 20 minutes drive) are a popular pastime, as are beaches activities (45 minutes drive away).Wombat Flats Camping Area is a flat grassy space beside Kingfisher Dam with Watagan Mountains National Park as backdrop. Our farm is 100 acres and the camping site is to the rear of the property approximately 400 metres from our farmhouse. The site is bathed in morning sun and afternoon shade is provided by the magnificent Cheese trees at the rear of the campsite. This site is perfect for guests who want peace and privacy in a bush setting with hiking access to the national park or around the farm.

Escaping The City.
What a perfect Place! absolutely loved it, we had the whole place to ourselves, peaceful and scenic surrounded by trees. The boys set up a camp fire and made smores, and we relaxed with the sound of nature and a glass of wine. The camp setup is great with a cold water shower kitchen area with sink, kitchen bench to prep our meals on. OzPig fireplace was so nice relaxing on the wooden chairs eating dinner. There's also a nice clean outhouse just back from the camp. Big thanks to the host, we will definitely come back again.

A very special spot!
We had such a nice stay at Wombat Flats. The under cover set up was perfect, especially for a bit of wet weather! It was beautifully maintained and the perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. Adrielle was an amazing host with excellent communication leading up to our stay.

Perfectly peaceful for solo retreat
I booked wombat campground for its privacy as a single site for a solo meditation retreat and I’m so glad I did. I had enough 4g phone coverage to run zoom off my phone. The site was absolutely ideal for my retreat. The stove was great for the early mornings, the covered area exactly the right length for walking meditation. The place feels very safe and easy to relax in with lots of little wonders to discover. Quietness was rewarded with wildlife visits, a wombat grazed in the paddock in front morning and afternoon, joined at times by half a dozen wallabies. Many varieties of smaller native birds around the site all day, which shows how healthy the bush is here. Easy access to the national park, just ask John or Adrielle, the lovely hosts for details, there are lots of fun places to walk. Around the property as well. The hosts were so kind and keen to make my stay pleasant. Im so grateful for the experience and would highly recommend!

Dream campsite all to ourselves
If I could dream up my ideal campsite this would be it. What a find! The site is easily accessible and very private. Charmingly set up, everything was clean and very well set out and maintained. Lots of perfectly flat pitches to choose from for the tent, with incredible shade trees perfect for climbing. The shed was so cosy, even my camping averse husband fell in love with the comforts of the stove and seating. Many safe spaces to play and explore for the kids and no bugs at all when we there! Lots of birds and wallabies. The hosts are so kind and helpful, you can tell how much they love this place and want to share it with others.
