Primitive camping
Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Indulge on a secluded 5.5 acres in an old pinewood forest. Forage for mushrooms, pick wild blackberries, or throw a net out for yabbies in one of the dams. Explore the surrounding forests where you will encounter kangaroos, wild goats, wild deer, wombats, black cockatoos, and much more. Enjoy private access to the upper Shoalhaven River. Swim in the pristine waters, try your luck fishing, have a go kayaking on our communal kayaks, or pan for gold! The adventures are endless at TegriDeer Farms. You are welcome to choose your camping spot, be it on top of the hill overlooking the valley, or underneath the pines by the campfire. Or perhaps on the lush green grass in the valley, down by the dam. Up to you. You will access the camping areas via dirt roads and grass. Easy access for camper trailers and caravans, with plenty of turning capacity. With an abundance of space to set up your camp wherever you like! There are no toilet facilities, so all campers must be fully self-contained, with a camp toilet and we kindly ask you to take all waste when you go. Well-behaved pets are welcome, but again, please ensure you take their waste with you! Campfires permitted when local fire restrictions are not in force, and conditions are ok.

Relaxed, quiet camping.
We just spent 5 nights over the Easter weekend here. It was so relaxing and quiet. Nice to be disconnected. Camped in the lower campsite with our two young (5&6) children. Was lovely to give them the freedom to roam without multiple other campers next door. There was a funny smell at times that we investigated and found a couple goat carcass’, which was kinda gross, but I guess the local wild life will enjoy that for sometime. It would be better if they had been buried to reduce the smell. Unsure if that part was owned by the same person or not though, as they were behind a small rope fence. The River was a lil walk away from the campsite, but we also drove down there too. No beach or such, you are either in or out for a swim, so with the young children it was a bit too fast flowing. However it’’s also very close to Stuart’s crossing so we went there one arvo for a nice swim too, but was pleased to be able to come back to our quiet campsite. Highly recommended, well except for the smell, although I would hope that won’t be there every time plus it came and went, when the wind changed.

Place not as described. The road in is challenging, I have an old caravan and it’s definitely shed a couple of years of its life, disappointing considering I enquired about this prior to booking.

We spent a long week-end and the location was very quiet. Bit of a hike to get to the river. We had to walk past caravans and shacks so weren't entirely sure if this was still the same property or we had ventured onto someone else's place. Not quite what we were expecting.

Camping near the Shoalhaven River!
About an 1 hour 45 out of Canberra, the road in off the Nerriga Road would be a bit tricky in the wet but found #480 pretty easily. 2 camping signs lead you to the property and was met by two little Shetland ponies. I took my dog and they were totally fine with him but be wary if your dog chases animals! A bit fire pit (no wood so take your own) there are properties surrounding the camp site but you would not know they were there. No river views but you can drive or walk to the river but my favourite spot was the short drive to 'the lookout' which was about 2 minutes from the campsite. I had breakfast up there and it does appear that someone has camped up there in the past. The site itself is very flat with some tables and spot light which can help you. It is very dark at night out there so very peaceful. Some goats and kangaroos getting about but for a peaceful night in the bush look no further.

Overall we had a great relaxing time. However the owner doesn’t live on the property so we were unsure if it was ok to camp where we did. Seeing a few empty vans around the property that were fully set up but vacant we weren’t sure we were at the right place. The walk to the water was about 400m walk and a steep bank with a small landing on the river. Definitely peaceful but not quite what we were expecting from the description.
