Bathurst Retreat is a 250 acre natural bushland eco property, with remote private tent and RV campsites beside the Macquarie River. Canoeing, fishing, and swimming with abundant wildlife from kangaroos, wombats, wallabies, and platypus, to hundreds of bird varieties from wedgetail eagles to colourful parrots and spectacular bee-eaters.
A genuine natural Australian bush and riverfront experience. You can go for a bushwalk along the river or up to the lookout on Billy Goat Hill.
Enjoy instant relaxation, or get into lots of activities like bushwalking, swimming, fishing, birdwatching or just sitting by the river to enjoy the wildlife and maybe catch sight of the resident platypus family.
A perfect place for the artist as the property is spectacularly beautiful no matter where you look.
The riverside campsites are currently for self-contained campers only. We can accept up to two cars in each camping site, but only one caravan or camper trailer maximum per site.
In addition to the riverside campsites we have a larger campsite on the top of "Billygoat Hill" able to accommodate up to 20 plus people and 6 vans or tents. This campsite is known as "Billygoat Hill" and would be great for a either romantic couple who would love to sit by the campfire as the sun sets in the west; or alternatively it can accommodate a large group of campers who can enjoy their fun times, bushwalking, and a short drive (or walk) to the river (approx 800m) for fishing or a swim.
Campfires are permitted if no RFS restrictions apply. You are welcome to gather firewood from the surrounding bush, but please do not use chainsaws.
The property is located 25 minutes from Bathurst and provides access to Orange and Hill End for the keen explorer!
