As soon as we pulled into this campsite, I felt uncomfortable and we turned around and left. The camper was not ready for us, the site was in the middle of a junkyard, there were men other than the host roaming around the property, and there were a LOT of goats and chickens there, one that the host warned could be aggressive. The host told us at the very last minute that there would be other campers staying there as well. These things are all mentioned in other reviews, but for us, it was just too much.

Fun for kids
Lovely area, beautiful view and my 2 young children (2.5 & 5) had a fun time with the goats. Goats are... assertive! Kids were a little scared at first, but with supervision and help from our host Jon, they learned to pick up a big stick and be assertive right back, and I think was a good agricultural learning experience overall. Goats do jump on low/ small cars, though with our hail damage one more dent was not a concern for us. Jon has made a beautiful graveled area with trees around for tent that provides a break from the wind, little pond right there with canoe that was also fun for kids. Thankfully out low & small car (Toyota matrix) made it over the rocky drive way, but brace for a rough ride. Overall a wonderful time and thanks to Jon for sharing this beautiful part of the state with us!

Hoofed and feathered friends abound
We had a lot of fun at Jon’s place. The farm atmosphere, the beautiful property backed by national Forest, the pond with our own kayaks, and the access to grey water in our camper made the stay so peaceful, adventurous and comfortable. We really loved the goats who follow Jon around like puppies. Jon made sure we had lots of firewood and helped us keep the flame going. He even let us sit on his patented seat heaters (warmbutts.com) which made the night so comfortable we almost fell asleep around the fire. We definitely recommend this camp! Keep in mind that you’re on a farm and you will receive lots of hoofed and feathered visitors during your stay. It’s really rustic and off grid but we have AT&T and had internet and cell service the entire time. We’ll definitely come back again!

We stayed this weekend and had a great time. Jon was very friendly and personable. We had a great view of the valley in our camper and really enjoyed helping out with the goats and chickens. We would definitely recommend staying here.

The GOAT of unique campgrounds
Jon was a fantastic host. Accommodating, friendly, knowledgeable, and gave us every opportunity to interact with the goats (hi, Nugget!). The kids loved bottle-feeding the baby goats, and we all enjoyed touring the acreage and splashing in the pond. Don't expect all the comforts of home at the Camphand Ranch, but that's not why you're here, is it? Jon's place oozes charm, and we had a wonderful time.

Was nothing what we expected. The pictures on the Hipcamp site do not show what we drove in to. We drove in, took a look around and drove right back out. We payed $100 and he also asks you to "work" for a bit of time while you stay. The work didn't scare us, it was the hoarding situation that turned us away. First Hipcamp reservation and we're out $100. So disappointed.
