I loved tent camping at Lake Atkinson, the farm animals was amazing for the children. The host representatives were so lovely and were so welcoming we really enjoyed our time. There were other campers but we had space to do our own thing we really enjoyed the getaway together thank you

Nice view,, the rest was depressing
Doug was helpful & friendly & the site allocated was clean & tidy (covered in bindies that stick to everything though)… unfortunately the facilities have not been well maintained
The entry to the demountable toilet block was overgrown & cubicles had a layer of bugs that was centimetres deep on the floor (many many nights worth) & on the toilet itself, not to mention the lack of toilet paper & functional TP holders - the TP that was there was on the floor with the bugs.
Park seems mostly filled with permanent tenants - nice view when the dam has water but living conditions left us feeling sad for those who are not there by choice. Pool was locked as some tenants were being ‘disciplined’ & is located up near most of the permanent sites (we could ask for the pool key if wanted).
Despite the animal farm I wont be taking my granddaughter there to canp - the bindies & toilet alone would have made that a nightmare. I would only recommend it for self sufficient adults… but even then I think there are better options available.
You can tell a lot of work has gone into the place to make it what it is, it’s just not what we expected or would recommend to someone who hadn't been there.

Close to the lake, there isn’t much to do in terms of amenities. The pool was green, and the park was generally run down. Although the bathrooms were cleaned regularly, they are in dire need of an upgrade. The road in also had many potholes. There are a fair few permanent residents onsite. Should have read the reviews instead of solely relying on the photographs. WIR? No.

DISAPPOINTED 💯
We camp here for 2 nights and it was a nightmare. The place is waaaay different from what they advertised on their website. There was a lot of broken glass everywhere which is absolutely not safe for children. The place has not been maintained , the grasses are overgrown and there were a lot of flies and insects. The worst part of it was the place are really smelly because of their animals. This is the worst campsite we've ever been to. 101% not recommended .

It had toilets in multiple places but only one of them had toilet paper. Had showers as well. Lake water was not really cleane and it smelled, but it might had been because of hot weather. Area was big and plenty of room. We were lucky that we didnt have to sleep next to animals that were making noises and smelled but deffinatelly cool place to visit eith children .

Lake Atkinson Camping
On entrance there was great energy and a warm welcome coming from Dougie (one of the staff); he personally showed us to our camp site. Had a great view of the lake, a pool for the kids to swim in and the kids also got to feed the farm animals on site!
