---- We are a working farm - PLEASE READ -----
There are donkeys, roosters, dogs and peacocks that make noise, sometimes at night and always early in the morning. Please be aware that you may hear the donkeys bray (usually lasts about 30 seconds) and roosters crow. It is startling and will wake you up. We do our best to keep the dogs hushed but we cannot stop the donkeys, roosters and peacocks from doing their thing. If you are a light sleeper, please select another wonderful Hipcamp in our area, thank you!
In addition to the interesting sounds you will hear, you will encounter dirt, poop and spiders. Since we are a working farm, things get dirty. We spray all high tough surfaces twice a day but things get dirty and when it rains it is muddy. Please plan accordingly.
We have opened our orchard and a lower pasture for you to pitch your tent, enjoy the sunset, watch the animals on the sanctuary or use it a home base to explore the Sierra Foothills. We are centrally located between Grass Valley and Auburn, giving you access to endless recreational activities, wineries, breweries and restaurants.
We have 50 or so rescued farm animals, you can interact with our pig Hank, Mojo the goat or Teddy the alpaca.
NOTE: Starting Memorial Day, we have replaced all of our wood fire pits with gas fire pits. We have increased our prices to help cover the costs of propane. Thank you for choosing us!

If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
Shanna is amazing and SO patient with kids. They flock to her every time she’s in the yard.
Love coming here year after year. This time we fed the goats, the pigs, and the llamas and played with baby chickens.
And they just got a couple of horses, looking forward to interacting with them next time we come.
Weekend fun getaway
What a joy. Peaceful countryside. The best hosts. They are so helpful. So much info to learn about animals and kids projects. Everything is available and close to site. Will definitely visit again!!
This was our second time at Love Creek, we were excited to visit again. The animals no longer roam freely all over the property but we were able to go into their area and hang out with them. They are all so cute and fun to watch, and some of them like petting. Mojo the goat and Hank the pig are our favorites! The camp site is spacious and has a picnic table, shade structure, grill, propane fire pit (perfect for when we can't have a wood fire!), and lots of fruit & shade trees. Shanna is a very communicative and friendly host. She gave us an intro to the property and shared about some of the animal characters. It's a beautiful & safe property, and highly recommend it to all animal lovers.
Definitely recommend with kids!
We brought our step dad and kids ages 1, 5, 5, and 13, and we all had so much fun! A very relaxed environment, everyone was so nice and let the kids be a part of feeding time.
We loved that there was an actual bathroom, between all of us it was much needed.
10/10 recommend and will definitely be booking again in the future!
Wonderful time at the sanctuary
It was lovely to stay at Love Creek Sanctuary! My group was there for four nights and stayed under one of many fig trees. The sanctuary was well set up with a table and a gas stove for cooking, a gas fire pit (due to high fire risk) and a shade structure that was private to our site. There were a few sites to choose from because we came mid-week and there was plenty of space between the sites. There were so many animals to interact with! The guinea foul and the sun woke us each morning and the male peacock lost his feathers during our trip. The chickens came around to entertain and eat scraps as we prepared food. Shanna believes in the magic of the experience and we definitely felt the magic.
All the sites share a bathroom and wash basin that is within their home. The steps to it were illuminated and it was well-stocked with tp and hot water. There is also filtered water for drinking. Bring a sponge, dish soap, and a place to keep food scraps to feed to the animals.
This was a wonderful spot to come across!
Just what we needed
Shanna and Garth were were both very helpful and sincere. You could see how much they loved their land as the trees and farm animals all reflected the love that they poured in.
We spent 3 days there and it was just what we needed. Close enough to town to grab whatever we may have forgotten, refill on ice, etc. Our kids, (7 and 5) were able to free range while we were there and were able to help out during feeding time!! So much fun to watch and participate and learn about each of the farm animal members. They each played important roles, including the guinea fowl and the friendly farm kitties.
Thank you for being so hospitable and sharing your little slice of your land with us. We hope to return. <3
Restful and fun
My partner and I had a wonderful stay here! The animals were friendly and truly a treat to observe. Shanna was welcoming and the community on her little farm was fun to be apart of. Also nice and close to stores and restaurants which was convenient.
We had a blast this weekend. We arrived right before evening feeding time, Anu helped us checked in, showed us around and also let us feed the alpacas. Shanna is very nice, easy to communicate. There’s more campers arrived the following day. Shanna is great with all the kids, everyone got a chance to meet and feed the animals up close. All the animals are friendly, you feel safe to let the kids play and run around in the farm. The campsites are well equipped with table, chair, grill, and canopy for shades. Having the mud room with hot shower is definitely a plus. After a day of hiking and out on a hot day, it’s nice to rinse and cool off. We would love to come back again!
