Coyote Creek Farm

8 sites · RVs, Tents30 acres · Waco, TX
Established 1996, The farm is situated just minutes from Magnolia-Silos, the Dr. Pepper museum, Baylor University,  the Texas Ranger museum, BSR Waterpark, the Waco Mammoth National Monument (US National Park Service),  and plenty of magnificent restaurants.  There are no power lines over the property so I invite you to bring a kite to fly! You may even see one or two of mine in the sky. The theme of Coyote Creek Farm is tranquility. It is camping without someone crowding into your space. It is freedom from the hectic pace of the city. There is a well maintained Compost Toilet on the property as well! Each individual campsite has a portable potty bucket provided.  Nearly any spot you are on has an amazingly delightful view. You can see the sun rise over the trees or the sun set behind a gently sloping hill. You will have access to all of the 30 acres. There are paths to walk, a stocked tank to fish in, (bass, catfish and blue gill),  and oak and pecan trees to sit under and view the clouds as they drift overhead. The noises you hear will be cattle calling to their little ones, birds singing, and in the evenings, coyotes howling.

Bee Mountain Resort

10 sites · RVs, Tents100 acres · Cleburne, TX
Nature and wildlife mixed with fun and relaxation, Bee Mountain Resort is truly a one-of-a-kind property! Private, spacious and beautiful, we are blessed with 1.5 miles of sandy beaches along Brazos River and the road coming here dead ends at our front gate. Customers are usually groups of friends & family; many having camped here for years. A few even claim to have grown up on the river and, to some extent, that might be true. Bee Mountain Resort is a secluded off-the-grid campground that's been around since the '70s. And it's pretty well known to the locals. I first discovered the Brazos River in 1985 when looking for great water to ski on. And since that time, I've developed many great memories here. I would describe our ranch as classic and old school. Change comes pretty slow here.....and we like it that way. Family, friends, kids & pets all love our amazing getaway. A rare gem best shared with good people. Each and every campsite is located directly on the river and all of them are huge. Firewood, ice, kayaks, paddle boards and generators are available at low prices. Great tasting water from our deep well, clean restrooms and a camper dump station are located on the premises. We are very pet friendly providing your pet is friendly.

Black Willow Pond

5 sites · RVs, Tents11 acres · Waco, TX
The 11+ acres was once part of a 100-acre plot of land that has been subdivided. It is home to birds, bullfrogs, turtles, and other wildlife, and every now and then cows graze lazily here when they aren't grazing on the larger properties. Black Willow Pond's namesake is from the black willow trees that encompass the pond and stand alongside the tall cottonwoods. We have built a home in the heart of the property, but there are many coves in the trees and primitive spots to enjoy the starry nights, a Waco, Texas sunset, and wild, open fields. Learn more about this land: Love the outdoors, but can't go too far? Nestled in a rural area just 5 minutes from Baylor and 10 minutes from the Magnolia Silos, Magnolia Table, and downtown Waco is Black Willow Pond. Who says you can't have your tent and city too? If you want to explore Waco, follow University Parks Drive to downtown and you can bike, explore Cameron Park, visit the zoo, browse food trucks, or even kayak on the Brazos. Drive a little further out and enjoy Waco Lake.  At Black Willow Pond, you can park and relax, set up your RV, tent, or hammock for primitive camping in wide-open spaces. Depending on the weather and your preference, you can light a fire in the fire pit or view the beautiful field dotted in the spring with Texas wildflowers, black willows, and cottonwood trees. If you want a little more activity, you can kayak or catch and release fish! Happy to chill? Join the turtles and bullfrogs on the wild banks of the pond. You may hear the cows moo and the hum of passersby, but you can unplug for as long as you like.  Watch the fiery sunset as you make dinner, and let the lightning bugs keep you company while making smores. If you're lucky, the willows will sing you to sleep while you count the falling stars. Like Shel Silverstein's poem "Invitation" beckons, " If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar, a magic bean buyer, a pretender, come sit by [our] fire for we have some flax-golden tales to spin. Come in! Come in!

Overview

Known as the "Heart of Texas," Waco is a hub of craft distilleries, rustic shops, and rolling central Texas landscapes. Outdoor recreation waits around every corner—especially on the lakes and rivers. What do you expect when nearly 12 percent of the city is covered by water? Waco has no shortage of fully equipped RV parks that put you at the forefront of local outdoor fun. Try SUP boarding on the Brazos and Bosque Rivers, or hike the cedar trails of 400-acre Cameron Park. Good old Texas glamping is just as abundant. Enjoy a taste of Southern Comfort in a cabin, farmhouse, or rail car. Ready to get out on the water? Nestled on the West side of town, Lake Waco is a 79,000-acre hub of local leisure. Have a blast swimming, boating, and fishing. (Catfish and crappie are notoriously easy to hook.) The lake also has four year-round public campgrounds with RV and tent camping. Airport Park is a favorite campground on the north shore while Midway Park hugs the east shore. Once you make camp in a lake-view site, launch your watercraft from the public boat ramps. Having trouble finding a campsite? Check out nearby Lake Whitney State Park. When camping in Waco, TX, get ready to brave some high temps. Summers here are scorching, and even winter days have been known to reach 90 F. Pack plenty of drinking water, and plan on spending your days on the cool lakes or Brazos River.
