So far we have about 18 fruit trees growing along with a small vegetable bed, herbs, and numerous flowers and ornamentals. Incredible amounts of love has been poured into this land and there's an infinite amount more to come. This is an ideal setup for car campers and vanlifers. You are welcome to carcamp and/or bring your own tent and pitch it anywhere on the freshly cindered open area :) Two of the best restaurants on the island (Dimple Cheek and Da Beans Greens Cafe) are within a 13 minute drive, along with a Wai Puna (free) water filling station, post office, and gas station + convenience store. We have a small outdoor kitchen with a 2 burner stove, and a 250 gallon water tank for washing dishes. You will need to bring your own drinking water. We will have a hot water heater + shower setup soon. We have a professionally build Humanure Composting toilet. We are less than 400 feet from the paved road so any vehicle will be able to drive straight onto the land. Yip Camp provides a setting that promotes immersion in nature. The property is located on the Kilauea Volcano at about 2700 feet in elevation and in sight of the majestic Mauna Loa volcano rising at the peak at 13,680 feet. Both volcanos have been active recently. There are several trails at the National Park nearby; trails and several species of birds live on the property including Japanese Pheasants. On clear nights the skies provide excellent ambient viewing of the moon, planets and constellations. The campsites and cottage are located in the woods near a shower and flushing toilet and the property is off grid with the goal to establish an example of sustainable lifestyles and ecosystems. Camping equipment is available upon request and the cottage is furnished with a basic kitchen. The grounds also include a screen room with a grill, tables, chairs and a fire pit. Local fruits and vegetables are grown on the property and the greenhouse provides food. Solitude is available for those who seek silence and immersion in nature and a number of state and county beaches are within a forty minute drive. The focus is providing a quiet environment and an opportunity for solitude away from the distractions of urban lifestyles.

Moon Garden Farm Getaway

Moon Garden Farm is a 25 acre farm, located off Highway 11 near the town of Mountain View. Beautiful views of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa are visible on clear sunny days. The 1500 foot elevation gives a great view of the ocean as well. Mountain View is located between beautiful, quaint Hilo and the spectacular Volcano National Park, each about 15 miles in either direction. Sheep, cattle and feral pigs can be seen in the lower pasture. There are 4 ponds and two are stocked with tilapia and catfish. Fish nets are provided for the children. The grounds are beautifully manicured with creative topiary's and lends itself to great photo shoots. Jaboticaba, bananas, lemons, calamansi, and several other fruit trees can be found on the farm. It's mostly peaceful here and it feels like being in the country. You can walk into the woods or up the road. There are no street lights, so there is a great view of the night sky. It's a great place for a Retreat, a Writer's Retreat, a Vision Quest or a Medicine Journey.
