This California Historical Landmark is a quick RV getaway from San Diego.
A small town known for its gold-mining history, Julian is 1.5 hours northeast of San Diego, making it popular with both weekenders from the city and those on Southern California road trips. Surrounded by Cleveland National Forest, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, and Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, Julian provides proximity to a wealth of outdoor activities. Tackle the hiking trail to the top of Cuyamaca Peak, go fishing or boating on Lake Cuyamaca, or explore the wild landscapes of the desert, just to name a few. You can also find wineries and orchards. Nearby RV resorts feature pools, hookups, and other amenities while alternative sites offer more secluded and basic settings amid pines, oaks, and other native trees. Julian’s weather adds to its appeal as an RV destination—temps are rarely too hot or too cold but there is variety among the seasons, including some snow in the winter and early spring.
