There are many hiking trails in the area, and the Circle Park Trailhead is located 3.5 miles from the campground, which will lead you to access numerous alpine lakes, and two 12,000 foot peaks within the Cloud Peak Wilderness. Excellent campsites situated right along the creek. The campground is in a wooded steep canyon so shade is no problem. Keep an eye on weather conditions - being high in the mountains means it can change somewhat rapidly. A walk on the road past the campground takes you by some residences and beautiful mountain cabins on private land, and eventually to an alpine lake that (I was told) moose frequent to quench their thirst.

Middle Fork Clear Creek runs alongside the campsites.Wild mushrooms of all varieties are abundant in the forest floor mulch. It's some high-altitude mountain driving to get here. Reserve a spot in advance.Fire pit area - use local firewood!
