What’s RVezy, and how does it work?

RVezy is a peer-to-peer marketplace that connects renters with RV owners across North America —  think Airbnb for RVs. You get to choose the type of RV you want to rent, so you won’t be stuck driving an oversized motorhome covered in corporate advertisements or feel like you rented an RV that doesn’t match your camping style.

Finding an RV is simple. Start by downloading the RVezy app or using a browser and filter your search by location and the dates you’d like to travel.

When you’ve narrowed down your location and travel dates, you’ll decide whether you want a drivable or towable RV. If you’re new to RVing, you might want to learn more about the different types of RVs before you start your search. Check out RVezy’s guide for first-time renters to get a more detailed description of each RV type or read the overview below.

Drivable

The RV industry categorizes motorhomes, or drivable RVs, into three classes based on size, drivetrain, and physical characteristics. Drivable RVs all fall under one of the following classes:

  • Class A. These bus-like motorhomes are the largest drivable classes and are typically built on commercial bus or truck chassis. Class A big rigs sleep up to 10 people and have upscale amenities, like residential refrigerators and entertainment systems on the inside.
  • Class B. Think #vanlife. The Class B campervan is small and can go places where big RVs can’t go. Class B motorhomes sleep two to four people and sometimes have a small wet-bath and tiny kitchenette onboard.
  • Class C. These motorhomes are the most popular RVs for renters because they sleep up to seven people and drive like a passenger truck. The Class C is versatile and comes with a bed over the cab and plenty of creature comforts inside.

Towable

Towable RVs, often called campers or trailers, are categorized by their physical characteristics and how they’re attached to a tow vehicle. Towable RVs come in a variety of shapes and sizes and fit into the following categories:

  • Fifth wheel. These travel trailers connect to a special hitch mounted inside a truck bed. They can handle more weight because they attach to the truck bed and not the bumper. Once parked, these big trailers open up to sleep up to eight people and have tons of room on the inside.
  • Toy hauler. Toy haulers open up so people can drive their motorcycles, four-wheelers, or other off-road toys into a garage space that’s typically separate from the living area. Although some Class A and Class C motorhomes have a toy hauler feature, these recreational vehicles are mostly found in fifth wheels and travel trailers.
  • Travel trailer. These versatile campers attach to the bumper and come in different lengths and configurations. Depending on the size, travel trailers can sleep up to 10 people and often feature amenities like indoor and outdoor kitchens, bunkhouses, and occasionally more than one bathroom.
  • Pop-up camper. People who want the feel of a tent with the security of a trailer love pop-up campers. These hybrid trailers attach to the bumper and fold down for travel. Pop-up campers are lightweight and sleep up to seven people.
  • Tiny (micro) travel trailer. Like a travel trailer, only smaller. Tiny and micro travel trailers are little beds on wheels and sleep one to two adults. Some tiny trailers feature a wet bath or a small kitchen. People like tiny trailers because they are lightweight and easy to tow.
  • Truck camper. Truck campers are versatile and sit inside heavy-duty truck beds. People like truck campers because they provide living space, fit in most parking spaces, and handle off-road conditions. Truck campers sleep up to four people.

Once you know what type of RV you want, you can add filters to match the amenities and convenience items you want on your RV rental. Got a dog? Use the pet-friendly search to find a campervan or trailer that welcomes your furry co-pilot. Want to drive your own vehicle, but sleep in an RV at different Hipcamp spots along your route? Choose a deliverable RV to have it set up and ready to go when you reach your camping destination.

How to book your Hipcamp locations

After you book your RV rental, it’s time to find a place to sleep. If you want a more authentic experience, skip the commercial campgrounds and search for Hipcamps along your route. RVezy and Hipcamp make the perfect pair because both platforms offer personalized experiences, which means you’ll have the ability to communicate with both the owner of the RV and the Hipcamp Host. Often, it’s this personalized experience that keeps travelers coming back again and again to both RVezy and Hipcamp.

Not sure where you want to stay? Download the Hipcamp app and search for an RV-friendly location close to the areas you want to explore.

Then, narrow your search even more and search for a Hipcamp Host by activity.

The best RV apps for your trip

After booking your RVezy RV rental and your Hipcamp stay, round out your road-trip itinerary by downloading the best RV apps for a successful RV road trip. Some of the best RV apps on the market help road trippers navigate the roads, avoid inclement weather, and find RV-friendly activities that will help you connect with nature and make the most of your journey.

GasBuddy

Save money on fuel when you download GasBuddy. GasBuddy is a crowd-sourced app that encourages users to verify current gas prices so that everyone can get a good deal at the pump.

Accuweather

Want to know the best time to get outside and avoid the rain? Download the Accuweather app and track the weather around you. Accuweather shows real-time weather in multiple locations and can even send you customized weather alerts to help you avoid inclement weather.

AllTrails

The AllTrails app is perfect for people who like to get out and explore new places. AllTrails lets you search for hiking trails in your area and find a route that suits your interests and activity level. The filter function makes it easy to find the terrain, difficulty, popularity, and features you’re looking for.

When should you plan your RV trip?

The quick answer is as soon as possible. With the growing popularity of both camping and RVing, the best time to book your dream vacation is now. By booking a few months in advance, you get access to the best RVs and the best campsites at competitive rates.

Don’t be discouraged if you can’t plan your trip ahead of time. RVezy and Hipcamp continuously have new RVs and locations popping up, so whenever you plan your next RV trip, it’s possible to snag a spot near one of Canada’s most-loved parks and recreational areas.

Quick tip: Some RVezy owners are open to negotiating discounts for less desirable dates. All you need to do is ask!

See you at the campground.
