If you aren’t familiar with the history, the Pony Express operated in 1860-1861, and riders risked their lives delivering mail along the route. You don’t have to face dehydration and other nasty factors to enjoy Simpson Springs, though! Come grab one of the 20 spots and bask in the beauty of the desert. We’re particularly certain you’ll enjoy stargazing once night falls—the stars are unreal here. While you’re searching for shooting stars, remember that Pony Express riders once set up camp at this very same spot.

The toilet is a waterless toilet called Separett which diverts urine from solids if you want to look up details online so you are surprised when you arrive. Quiet time is 9:30pm to 8:00 am. Went mid November. Beautiful campground. Wide open space. Quite a few coyotes, jack rabbits, deer, and even saw a sheep and wild horse. Quite a drive out on the unpaved road, make sure you have appropriate tires. Go on a full moon!
