We enjoyed our extended long weekend at Petrina's. She is such a lively person, she showed us around the gardens and introduced us to all the chickens. Her husband Roger was awesome and helped us out when we had some car trouble. I would definitely recommend this hipcamp to friends and would definitely love to go back for another visit. 5 stars

Was very nice experience, the walk in is challenging for older adults. Hosts very friendly and helpful. Bring bug spray for a comfortable stay. Wonderful camping surroundings.

We enjoyed our stay at Petrina’s land. She has built something very special at her home. My daughter loved meeting the chickens! We bought the extra vege basket and eggs. Petrina gave us a big bag of home grown vege that was in season. We enjoyed some of the eggs for breakfast while camping and had the peas and lettuce the day after we got home and they tasted amazing! Petrina has lots of great extras which really added to our stay.
Petrina was a great host and great at communicating throughout.
One thing to note is that we didn’t have cellular service while there incase this is something you needed.
One thing to also note is that the camp area is very small and not freshly mowed and very close to tall grass so lots of mosquitoes and ticks around and we got quite a few ticks on us and our dog. Luckily the local ticks aren’t generally the ones that carry Lyme, but with a dog who is on chemotherapy right now it wasn’t the ideal situation for us but may not bother other people. On the upside if you don’t mind the bugs, you are totally immersed in nature and the fire fly show that surrounded us that evening certainly made up for the other bugs.

Sugar Meadow
The campsite at Sugar Meadow is surrounded on one side by trees that almost feel like you're in the jungle! It feels private and is not too far of a walk from the washroom. Petrina and her family are so kind and welcoming and I loved spending some time in the garden and with the chickens! Would highly recommend to other campers.

It was a very secluded site. Had a great area for fires and a good spot to set up a tent. Great touches by the hosts. We had a very relaxing time. I would recommend it.

Petrina and Roger are amazing hosts and wonderful kind people. I arrived in bad weather in a storm, Petrina came up to me multiple times to make sure I was comfortable. Roger is so kind and helped me get my tent up at 11 pm at night, something that I struggled with for an hour.
They are amazing and so is the farm and surrounding woods. The outhouse is surprisingly clean. I was amazed at how well they run the place.
I had a great night camping under a starlit sky free from light pollution of any sort. I even met a coyote that wandered in late night up to my tent and chair and who got started by my surprised cry (poor thing).
I would love to visit again.

It was really neat! Very welcoming people! Petrina gave us a little tour of their off grid farm. The have a cool garden and lots of chickens! I look forward to when they complete their earth ships. Would stay there again!

Had a fabulous stay at Petrina's farm. Petrina showed us around the property and is so passionate about sustainable living, it's amazing to see. Her hospitality went above and beyond. The chickens are great entertainment and are all so pretty. A great place to stay for an evening!

We enjoyed Petrina's hospitality! We enjoyed our time around the fireplace with Petrina and her guest. This is such an inviting atmosphere.
The animals - chickens....so many and the new born chicks were a treat to be around.
We saw a rabbit on the property, and there are 2 pigs and the family cat. (I Love Animal's of all sorts!)
There are options for different types of camping too!
We definitely will return and maybe try out the site in the far back, next time. ❣❣❣

Soooo much to see and discover and a garden lover’s dream!
A multitude of alternative power sources can be viewed and respected at this location as well as the beginnings of an earth ship
Petrina your beautiful host is both modest and vast in the knowledge of her garden (have a chat with her if you can) as she is a beautiful soul
Beyond conversation an abundance of veggies can be found in the gardens as well as chickens and pigs
Lovely forest and very clean composting toilet

Beautiful property hosted by an even sweeter family! Highly recommend if you're looking for a quiet farm life experience. We came away with fresh eggs and grocery bags of farm fresh produce from such a generous host. We will definitely back! We miss it already!

Patrina was such a great host, we stayed in our camper van with our 2 kids and great dane. She made us feel so welcomed from the time we got there. She let our kids expore the gardens, feed the pigs and get the eggs from the chicken coop which we bought ($5/dozen) for breakfast. The kids really enjoyed catching frogs and tadpoles and playing on the zipline and playset. They even invited us to a campfire with her family and friends. Fantastic stay.

Very interesting and accommodating property. The gardens are gorgeous and the earthships in development are very interesting. Lots of space and choice on where to camp. Composting toilet is in a covenient location for the driveway sites and the clear starry skies were a pleasure to camp under. We unfortunately did not explore the wooded sites and paths, which I feel was a missed opportunity. Lovely property, lovely hosts in beautiful Norfolk County. I would definitely recommend.

Felt like it was far away from everyone else. A nice get away from city life. We enjoyed having a fire every night and listening to the wildlife around us. We both loved the experience! Petrina was very nice whenever we interacted with her.

Great place to stay, especially if you like the outdoors. It’s close to long point so there is plenty of things to do during your stay on and off the property. The hosts are very nice and I would definitely stay again!

This spot was perfect for a little night away from the city. The bush camp was a bit buggy, but absolutely stunning once we had a fire going. The sun hit the woods perfectly in the evening and again in the morning. Petrina was an amazing host, showing us her stunning property, including some fun animals and a gorgeous garden! Would definitely head back here anytime!

Thank you for an amazing stay, despite the rainy weather! We were met at the door by a very inviting family who instructed us on where to set up camp, including orientation on optimal sunrise and sunset locations. We were able to talk chickens and sustainabile living in the morning before getting some tasty garden goodies for the road. Highly recommend this Hipcamp Host!

Petrina is a lovely host. We made our reservations last minuite and started driving. We were delayed because of trouble with our trailer lights. Unfortunately we rolled in very late and Petrina's husband Roger met us in the driveway to make sure we were ok for the night. Such an interesting property with learning experiences for the teenagers too. Petrina was a breath of fresh air! We hope to make it their way again sometime.

Petrina was so welcoming from the moment I arrived on her high-vining property. She has so much going on, it's a true feat to witness how she runs her property full of vegetable and flower gardens, chickens, pigs, bees, and more! There is ample space to pitch a tent nearby to the home or back in the bush-camp. While buggy in the middle of July, once the fire was up and smoking, that almost immediately cleared the wooded area. I'd highly recommend coming here for more than just a getaway into the bush, but a great social experience with Petrina if you're looking for that too!!

We had a great stay at Petrina's farm! She was so gracious with her time, showing us around the gardens and introducing the animals. My son is still talking about the edible flower he tried and the carrots he got to pick! The campsite we were in was a clearing at the side of some woods, very private, close to the composting toilet outhouse (very clean), and big enough for our huge (9 person) tent, a pop up play yard, our camp stove, chairs, etc. It was nice to have the option to be very private or interact as much as we wanted. We took the kids to Sand Hill park and Long Point beach, both a short drive; the farm is a great location for exploring the area. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful space!!

From the wake up call of the rooster to the fresh eggs from the hens, a full day of exploring the frog pond, to a glowing nigh of fire flies ... take a min and realize the hard work it takes to keep a full garden and many animals happy and healthy. A great Host with knowledge to share with even the youngest of her guests... highly recomended
