While there are many reasons that campers consistently return to Brittany, one is undeniably the glorious beaches. From the stunning cliff-tops at Perros-Guirec, to the opulent north coast of Dinard, Brittany has a seemingly endless stretch of majestic, unpredictable coastline.

While there's no doubting the region's epic quality, we know of a tranquil, secluded cove where soft, white sands meet the azure waters of the sea. A place that's the very essence of rest and relaxation. Interested? We thought as much. Welcome to Bot-Conan Lodge.

Just a flip-flop away from the bay, this über luxurious new glampsite boasts some of the region's most enviable ocean vistas. But this is not the crashing Atlantic swells of maritime lore. At Bot-Conan's secret beach, a meditative calm pervades – kids are safe to paddle and lovers free to contemplate the endless seascape before them. Pure bliss.

After a day's frolicking in the temperate waves, cataloguing the local wildlife, or simply lazing on the beach with a good book, retiring to your safari-lodge dwellings is simply wonderful. As well as safari lodges, three ‘atoll’ tents are available, combining the pleasure of camping with the luxury of your very own sun deck and outdoor kitchen. Whatever accommodation you choose, you’re sure to enjoy this beautiful, Breton bolthole.

Welcoming host Arnaud has ensured the site blends perfectly into the local landscape – even the two bath-houses integrate seamlessly with their green roofs and wooden facades.

Although it’s tough, do try and drag yourself away, the local area is spectacular. Brittany’s deep, mysterious interior is there to be explored – from Arthurian woodland (the fabled Brocéliande), canals, and rivers that are ideal for hiking, cycling or cruising lazily. For something more adrenaline-fuelled, surf junkies can get their fix at La Torche some 30 minutes away.

As well as a shared Celtic heritage (not to mention landscape) with their Cornish cousins across the water, the Breton's share a love for cider. Fouesnant is the spiritual home of Breton cidre. It's generously endowed with fertile orchards which produce the very best brews. If you're staying in July, the annual 'Fete des Pommiers' (Festival of the Apple Trees) is a must for all connoisseurs.

This is not camping, this is glamping! Our deluxe tents, with sea view are directly imported from South Africa and include everything required to make your stay extra special. They have a large living area with vintage furniture and two bedrooms, one with a queen-size bed the other with two single beds and a private outdoor shower area with WC. You will find the beds done with high quality linens and warm quilt for you to get real cosy night’s sleep. Bot-Conan has two bath houses, located only a few metres away from the tents and blends beautifully into the landscape thanks to their green roofs and wooden panels. Located in the "champ des Châtaigniers" (Châtaigniers field), our Atoll tents combine camping pleasure and comfort: all equipped with a covered kitchen / dining room and a sundeck. Our wood cabin with sundeck is a charming and very comfy dwelling for Two adults and two children. After long days out at the beach, on the coastal paths or on your private deck, meet in the evening around the BBQ pit and enjoy the full comfort of this glamping experience; sauna, jacuzzi, bikes, ping-pong, paddle, canoe...The wood cabin has one double bed and mattress for two children, it has its own shower and toilet, a fully equipped kitchen, electrical hookup and a private deck. The campsite is fenced, children can play safely in the surrounding grounds and the beach is kid friendly (no currents, shallow depth, no big waves).We are located in the beautiful baie de la Forêt where you can find great fishing, sailing and outdoor activities. Amazing camp site next to a beautiful stretch of coastline, well-equipped kitchen, plenty for kids to do on site (play room, table genius, rope swing, bikes). Would highly recommend. We’ll be back!

Just returning from 6 days in one of the Atoll tents. The site was already quiet with only one other family there. Facilities all good quality and we enjoyed the outdoor kitchen - though we were also lucky to have perfect weather. The main attraction though is the glorious beach just a few metres away and direct access to the coastal path. Beg Meil and Cap Coz both a shortish (30 mins) walk away, we had good meals in both Bistro Chez Hubert and Les pieds dans l’eau. Carole was really helpful throughout and ordered us croissants and bread daily. Highly recommended.

Atoll Tent

We had a week-long glamping holiday staying in one of the Atoll tents. We were very impressed with the facilities, both with what was provided with the tent and the cooking a facilities (the fridge was the most welcome new addition!), but also with the shower block and the other shared facilities. Arnaud, Carol and the rest of the team provided a great service, from very frequent cleaning to the availability of fresh bread in the mornings and a quick response to maintenance issues or queries. The setting is beautiful with immediate access to a lovely beach and easy access to other beaches nearby. The village of Beg Meil with a very handy and well stocked convenience store is a quick cycle ride away and having the quaint post bikes on site for use by the campers was a nice touch. We had a very relaxing stay and can't wait to re-book for next year.

We’ve just returned from a wonderful week at Bot Conan. The campsite and its layout are great, the tents are nicely spaced out around the site which is surrounded by trees. We stayed in a bell tent in the far corner of the furthest field, perfect for a spot of privacy and our children had lots of space to run around and play where we could see them at all times. Camping here was a real adventure for our kids, they loved the whole experience, especially the zip wire, swings and the chicken (poor chicken!). As previous reviewers have mentioned, the beach is perfect for young children - the water is very calm and shallow, and there are plenty of interesting little nooks for them to explore. The free bikes, canoe etc are a great addition, all in all, it’s the type of place you hardly want to leave all week. The washing block and the main ‘farmhouse’ building are beautifully designed, as is everything else at Bot Conan. Antoine was a brilliant host, knowledgable and friendly. Merci!

Atoll Tent

A perfect glampsite for a relaxed and peaceful holiday with options for swimming, walking, cycling and boating if you want to explore. Catching up on your summer reading from the decking outside your safari tent is also an option! The setting is stunning and easily accessible; we managed very well without a car for a week's holiday. The bus to Fouesnant is regular and reliable - the old quarter next to the cathedral is worth a visit. There's a coastal path in both directions from Bot-Conan's location on the west-facing coast of a large bay, and you can take a boat trip from Beg-Meil (30 mins walk from Bot-Conan) to visit a small archipelago of islands. There are two nautical schools within easy reach and some lovely quiet cycling along the coast and inland - there's an easy off-road route that leads directly from Bot-Conan (follow the yellow triangle and two circles signs!) in the direction of Mousterlin that winds through pine forests down to and along the coast. Try the campsite's yellow post bikes that are free to use - perfect for touring through the nearby countryside. Antoine was a very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful host who looked after us really well. A lovely place for a holiday with kids - we were sad to leave.

The location, the rest and relaxation, the nature, the beach and the facilities were perfect. My partner and myself and two children spent a week in a safari tent and found it to be very enjoyable. I loved the laid-back atmosphere, the wonderful site where children were free to roam and wonder. People were polite, friendly and considerate. The tents were well equipped and well laid out and having my morning cup of tea on the terrace looking over the trees was lovely. Prepare yourself for the midges and mosquitoes however ! Our children were not bitten but we were devoured! X

This is in a perfect location and there is lots of space for games. Also bikes and paddleboards are available at no extra cost: this site is very relaxed and the standards are very high. The surrounding area is also lovely and the locals are very relaxed and friendly. We're definitely planning on coming back here again and would recommend.

I had spotted Bot Conan lodge while researching for our trip but saw it didn't take caravans which was such a shame because this site was exactly what we were looking for - small, non commercial and right next to the beach. We were in the Loire for a week and as we were leaving I called Arnaud the owner on the off chance that he may let our 1975 Cheltenham caravan onto his site as we didn't need electricity and it wouldn't be an eyesore. Because it was retro & tres jolli Arnaud agreed to let us stay and we ended up having a whole field with stunning sea view. Bot Connan lodge is a little piece of glamping paradise. It's location is idyllic. 100m to a small sandy beach, beautiful clear shallow water perfect for children. The coastal path is shady and perfumed with pine needles. You can walk each direction 20 or 30mins to small towns both which do wonderful food. Try the pizza place in Cap Coz and the burger at la Boite a Sardines in Beg Meil which is one of the best we ever tasted. The glampsite is complete luxury and you can tell that Arnaud has put lots of care, attention to detail and style into everything he has built. The toilets & showers were always spotlessly clean, there is a fabulous farmhouse with an arga to cook on, tables and comfy sofa's with log fire incase the weather is bad. It has a really good wifi connection too. There is a wood fired hot tub & sauna, zip line, table tennis, swings, free bikes, canoe & paddleboards. You couldn't need anything else. We loved the glampsite, Bretagne Sud and really hope to come back next year if Arnaud continues to let vintage caravans visit his site.

What a great place where 4 O.A.Ps spent a week in September. Despite the weather not being at its best, the warmth of Arnaud and his daughter's welcome really helped us settle in and enjoy our first experience of Glamping. Bear in mind that Don, who is an active 85 year old (normally a 5 star hotel type!), was in his element dealing with the log burner. Surprisingly none of us used the 'zip wire' , although I was very tempted but being the driver thought better of it! I did, however, have the privilege of being the first person to use the newly installed SAUNA. All the facilities were excellent and the location truly exceptional.

Have just returned from a fabulous stay at Bot Conan and it was every bit as wonderful as they say. The location is unbeatable and given we had a very un Brittany spell of glorious weather we spent the entire time exploring their amazing beaches. Arnaud was a welcoming host and our two families had a great time. If you like bbqs on the beach, cycling, trekking across the coast and kayaking to secluded bays this is the site for you.

Camping you say? No, this is GLAMPING! Beds have comfortable mattresses with duvets, linens and pillows are provided. We know you want to ‘rough it’, but up to a certain point: electricity is provided as well as Wi-Fi, if you wish to stay connected! A small fridge will also keep your provisions cool and fresh. Nearby attractions

Bot-Conan is located in the beautiful bay of Baie de la Forêt, where outdoor activities come thick and fast. Here are a couple of suggestions to get you started. Overlooking La Foret-Fouesnant bay, Cornouaille Golf Club (0033 298 569709) is a challenging, well maintained golf course set upon the picturesque Atlantic coast. Home to plenty of wildlife including egrets, swans, herons, geese and ducks, Cornouaille is the oldest golf course in southern Brittany. The 18th century clubhouse is a converted manor house that offers meals, snacks, and a friendly bar where you can enjoy a post-round drink. Concarneau, a likeable fishing port, is only a short drive away. This charming walled town makes its living from the fishing industry, and catches more than 100,000 tonnes of tuna every year! The Musee de la Peche (0033 298 971020) is an interesting little museum that gives an educational introduction to how fisheries operate. Make sure you head outside and explore the engine room, galley, and bedrooms of the old trawler.

Food and drink

For cider lovers, the annual 'Fete des Pommiers' (Festival of the Apple Trees) takes place in July and features music, dancing and plentiful amounts of the celebrated brew. Bot-Conan Lodge is also close to the quaint village of Beg Meil which has a lovely local market, creperies, and good choice of restaurants. Bistrot Chez Hubert (0033 298 949804) is a cosy little restaurant with a big atmosphere. The high quality menu is varied, with the seafood being particularly tasty. There are no onsite catering options, however local produce can be sourced if requested and a pub is soon to open on the farm directly next door.
