—————— Just 25 minutes from Québec City, Maelström Mountain is an invitation to slow down and disconnect. Here, time naturally eases its pace. From the moment you arrive, silence settles in, wrapped in forest and the gentle whisper of wind through the trees. Nature stretches endlessly in every direction — untouched, soothing, and serene. Each day follows the rhythm of light, seasons, and calm. Mornings open with a soft mist, days invite quiet reflection, and evenings reveal a star-filled sky of rare clarity. Whether reading, wandering without purpose, breathing deeply, or simply doing nothing at all, Maelström is a place to recentre yourself. This is where you come to give yourself a truly essential pause. Far from noise, obligations, and the rush of daily life, you rediscover the luxury of simplicity: birdsong, the crackle of branches, and the feeling of being completely surrounded by nature. More than a stay, it’s a unique experience — a sanctuary of serenity where you leave feeling rested, inspired, and reconnected to what matters most, with the rare feeling of having truly taken the time to slow down.

Tucked away in the countryside of Lotbinière, this little wood-heated cabin offers a true escape into nature — with sweeping views over the St. Lawrence River flowing just below. It's a peaceful, private retreat where bald eagles are a common sight overhead. Inside, you'll find everything you need for a simple, comfortable stay: a wood stove to keep you warm, a small kitchenette (mini-fridge, stovetop, dishes and utensils), a table, and a futon sofa that opens into a double bed on the main floor. Climb up to the mezzanine loft for a queen bed with its own quiet charm. Step outside onto the small patio to take in the river view, or settle by the fire pit for an evening under the stars. A composting toilet is available on-site; showers are available in our house, just a short walk away. The cabin sits about 300 meters from our home, fully surrounded by nature — giving you all the privacy you need while still being close to help if you need it. Perfect for travelers looking for an affordable, back-to-nature getaway by the water. The area is also a great home base for outdoor lovers — with nearby hiking trails, the river for kayaking and paddleboarding, and the botanical gardens of Domaine Joly-De Lotbinière just a short drive away.
