Homegrown Campground and Cabins is nestled on the north shore of Lesser Slave Lake and I offer cozy camping areas with private lakefront views of Dog Island. I currently have 4 camp sites, two of which have decks, and another site with one tiny cabin. Please read: The property is also a Bison farm and I have two dogs, Luna and Pyro, who are the campground security managers. They love people and other furry friends! Please note that this campground/farm are my dogs home, and they may wonder over at some point and say hello. Please do not feed them, and use good judgment if you are traveling with dogs of your own. Aggressive dogs will not be tolerated. If my dogs overstay their welcome, or if you simply aren't a dog person, please let me know and I can come retrieve them. Potable water is available, directions to it will be made available after checking in. Also, if any of the sites, garabge bin or outhouse needs attention, PLEASE let me know. I ask that you don't leave bags of garbage on the ground after checking out since birds, dogs, or bears will take that as an ivite to make a mess looking for a snack. I do have a full time job that prevents me from being around 100% of the time, so with your help, we can ensure a clean and safe campground for everyone to enjoy. There is a metal dumpster at the end of the road that can be used if needed. Points of interest nearby include: Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park, Devonshire Beach. 5-10 minutes away. You can't say you've been to Slave Lake with out saying you've been to Devonshire. Endless amounts of clean white "squeaky" sand and shallow waters perfect for summer beach days. You will never find a rock on the beach or in the water. The southern end of the park consists of sand ridges and blowout dunes, behind which are a series of marshes and wetlands. Marten Mountain View Point (Lily Lake Trail). 15 minutes away. By far the best view of the lake that you will ever get! At 1020 meters, Marten Mountain is the highest point of land for hundreds of square kilometers. From the Marten Mountain Viewpoint, you can take in a truly breathtaking view of Lesser Slave Lake and its forested slopes. The view point is also the trail head to get to Lily Lake, a medium difficulty 4 km round trip. The cozy lake is stocked with trout and is an excellent afternoon adventure. Boreal Centre for Bird Conservation. 5 minutes away. It is one of Canada's northernmost bird observatories and is one of the only boreal forest bird observatories in the world. Nice walking trails and a great information center with stunning architecture. Gilwood Golf Course. 2 minutes away. Neighboring the property is an 18 hole golf course with a clubhouse and restaurant. Activities nearby include fishing, hiking, wildlife watching, swimming, and so much more! Pets are welcome, campfires are permitted.

Site 1 has a 12×12 deck built into the hill side, with a smaller tree deck attached. There is a large level camping area above which can accommodate small RVs, trailers up to 20ft in lenght, or multiple tents. The trail down to the lake is quite steep.

Site 4 has a 12x12 deck built into the hill side and it also offeres the largest flat grassy area for camping. There is a relatively easy trail to get down the hill to the beach. I'd recommend this site if anyone is planning to have more than 2 tents and a gazebo.

Site 2 offers a large flat shaded camping area with plenty of space for multiple tents, small trailers, and campervans. Warning, the trail down to the lake is quite steep. This site does not have a deck.

Site 3 its nested in the trees and is a beautiful cozy spot. A small campervan would fit here, but this site is great for tenters, or it would be ideal for anyone who does hammock camping. The trail down to the lake is not too difficult and has rock steps for half of the trail. This site does not have a deck.

As part of HomeGrown Campground and Cabins, this little cabin can accommodate a queen-sized air mattress or two cots, but a double or twin is recommended for extra floor space. It’s like camping, but there is no need for a tent! The cabin is perched on top of the embankment offering great lake views and it is only a 30-second walk down the stone path to get to the beach. There is no power!! The cabin is wired for electricity and can be hooked up to a power box or generator if you have one. If you have a group, there is room to pitch tents as well for an additional $10/night per tent. (Select one additional guest in the menu per tent when booking). This site has tons of character and charm, and if you stay here, you will be glad to have discovered a hidden gem. Points of interest nearby include Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park. This is a landscape of contrasts. The southern end of the park consists of storm beaches, beach ridges and blowout dunes behind which are a series of marshes and wetlands. It is one of Canada's northernmost bird observatories and is one of the only boreal forest bird observatories in the world. It was a serene location, so close to the Lake. Nothing but the waves to be heard overnight! The host left us to our own devices, just the way I like it. I have nothing but great things to say about this location.

Finding Garrett's little cabin for the 5 days my friend and I were there was wonderful. We underestimated how big the cabin actual is, which is on us, but still had a wonderful time. Poppy (my dog) LOVED the easy access to the water! Right down a path from the cabin. Very quiet and serene. Would definitely recommend and go back!

Site 1 - Lake Front Paradise
Camping at Homegrown Campgrounds was a highlight this summer. My car battery was on the fritz and Garrett was super kind to help boost my car not once, but twice over the 4 nights I spent there. My dog and I really enjoyed the company of the camp hosts, Luna and Pyro the last night as well. I hope to come back again next summer.

I’d love to say this campground is awful to keep it from getting too popular, but that’d be greedy of me. It’s truly spectacular! With breathtaking views, a tranquil beach, and a quiet escape from the highway’s hustle and bustle, it’s a perfect retreat.

Site 2 - Lake Front Paradise
This was my 3rd time staying at Homegrown Campground, the 2nd time staying at site 2. While Site 2 does not have a deck, it is very large with ample room to set up camp and lots of privacy. The host is quick to reply if anything is needed (more tp for rest room for example) and our stay is always serene and comfortable.

Really loved our camping trip to Slave lake, already want to go back ! The views of the lake are so beautiful, even better at sunset. Nice trails to walk and the beach is only a couple feet from the camp ground. Our dog Bailey absolutely had the time of her life running free 🐾It’s a very peaceful break away from the city 🌆 looking forward to going back 🏕️

Site was great. When they say potable water, it is a hose off of the owners' house. Picnic tables at all sites need to be replaced.

This was our second trip to the Little Cabin with the Big View and we are already starting to plan a trip there for next summer. The view if the lake is spectacular and so is the feeling of privacy and seclusion.

Sites 1, 3 and 4 have great views! Site 2 can see the lake though the trees and has the most room. Garbage seems to be emptied every day and the hosts dogs, Luna and Pyro were great to play with each time we needed to grab some water. So close to everything you want to go do near Slave Lake. Rocky beach a 2 minute walk down the hill was great for an evening walk.

The Perfect Campsite for us!
Little Cabin With A Big View
This campground is a true gem. We stayed at the Little Cabin site for almost a week. One of my favourite things is the lovely deck and chairs overlooking the lake. We watched the sunsets and because 2 meteor showers were happening - got to peacefully watch for shooting stars. We are already planning our next trip. Everything about Garrett’s campground was perfect for my husband and I.

Site 2 - Lake Front Paradise
Another great visit to Homegrown Campground! Site two is private and spacious, with a very nice, large and sturdy picnic table and lots of room to spread out and set up camp. Would be excellent for people with multiple units, or accessories, ie: trailer and tent for the kids. The location is nice and close to the Marten Mountain viewpoint which is a beautiful place to have a packed lunch. Very happy to have spent so much of the summer here and hope to be back again.

Site 1 - Lake Front Paradise
My dog, Gus, and I had a fantastic time on Garrett's land. Site #1 had a beautiful view of the lake, with a gorgeous wooden deck to put my hammock and stand on. The beach near the site is rocky, but a lovely spot to relax and enjoy listening to the birds, and the waves. The campsite is very close to town, Devonshire Beach, as well as the Boreal Bird Conservatory, and we made great use of the numerous trails at each as well as the dog park in town. Garrett's two lovely and well-behaved dogs, Luna & Pyro would stop by to check in each evening, much to the delight of my dog Gus, who got in a bit of playtime with Pyro, and was always happy to see them. As a solo female traveler, I felt safe and well cared for by this land - there are wild raspberries and saskatoons growing as well as numerous beautiful wild flowers. it was a real treat to spend a few nights here. When we arrived, the cute outhouse was out of supplies, but I texted Garrett and he had them filled up shortly thereafter - a very attentive and kind host. I will definitely be looking to book at this location again in the future.

Beautiful campsite next to the lake. Peaceful and not overcrowded. Enjoyed visiting with the owners dogs their so well behaved and friendly. Will definitely plan to come again. Really enjoyed our stay. Stayed in campsite number 4. It was very spacious with plenty of room and trees that blocked the wind and gave you shade-just stunning!!

Beautiful spot with a view of the lake. A short little hike down and you’re on the rocky beach, perfect for viewing the sunset. A sandy beach for swimming and paddle boarding is a short 15 minute drive. Already booked our next stay for next month

We recently stayed at Site 1 at Homegrown Campground & Cabins, and it was such a memorable and refreshing escape into nature. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the peaceful surroundings and well-maintained grounds. The site itself was spacious, clean, and perfectly tucked into a private corner that gave us a cozy, secluded feel. The lake nearby added a calming soundtrack to our stay, We brought our hammock and set it up right next to our tent, which made for the perfect spot to unwind and stargaze at night. Highly recommend Homegrown Campground for anyone looking to disconnect and recharge. Can’t wait to come back again!

Beautiful location, very private, lots of Space. Host was very accommodating and had great Communication throughout our stay. Very close to town for everything you need. Clean Sandy beaches nearby for swimming, close to the river for fishing. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you again
