Elk Island Getaway is located 20 minutes east of Edmonton and 7 minutes from HWY 16 main entrance of Elk Island Park, Alberta.
We are also right by Elk Island Park, in addition to being an important refuge for bison, elk and more than 250 bird species, it is a great place for all your hiking, picnicking, biking, canoeing and kayaking needs.
When you enter Elk Island National Park you will know immediately that you have entered an oasis of calm. For years people have come to the picturesque park to escape the city life, explore the outdoors and connect with nature.
Come and experience the dark sky preserve in our area that features an amazing opportunity to star gaze and to view the Northern Lights.
We have 8 campsites available for tent, van, small motorhome, and small trailers.
Some sites accommodate large trailers.
Our group site is sites 7 and 8 please inquire if interested in this option.
We offer firewood upon *availability* for sale at an additional cost of $20 per bundle of wood. Please note that supply may be limited at times, as well as our availability, so we recommend placing your order early to ensure availability.
Pets welcome on leash and owners are responsible for clean-up.
This is a camper-maintained campground.
Please take your trash with you at the end of your stay.
Pack it in, pack it out. Inspect your campsite and rest areas for trash or spilled food. Pack out all trash, leftover food, and litter.
There is a toilet available for campers to use but no other amenities.
Our sites offer picnic tables and firepits.

We were pleasantly surprised by how lovely the cabin was. Kara and Dan was also very nice in letting us setup a surprise proposal for my sister. The place was peaceful and quiet. It was a perfect place to unwind. The stars were beautiful at night. Would also mention that I was kinda hesitant on using the porta potty but to my surprise it was very clean unlike other porta potties I've seen in other camping areas. It's a great place to go to when you want to have a getaway that's not too far from the city. Would definitely come back!

We had such a wonderful stay at this cabin! The place is amazing, quiet, peaceful, and surrounded by nature. Guillermo, their lovely dog, was a highlight of the trip. He gave us a little “tour” of the property and played happily with our dog, who was thrilled to run off-leash. Kerry is a fantastic host, always quick to answer our questions and make us feel welcome. We truly enjoyed our time here and are already planning our next visit this winter.

Weekend Trip to Avant Gardens
My partner and I absolutely loved the cabin. Beautiful details, comfortable bed, nice touches and everything you need to set up a little camp kitchen on the porch. The property is beautiful, the cabin is surrounded by trees. The little outhouse is very cute and does not smell like an outhouse because of the composting toilet. It even has a bag shower. I wish we could have stayed longer, I hope we'll be back!

This is the second time I've visited. Camped last year and stayed in the cabin this year. Absolutely love this space. Very quiet and peaceful. Spent most of our time outdoors, hoping it would rain so we could listen to it hit the metal roof, no such luck. Cabin is well stocked and the hosts are very accommodating. Will definitely be back!

This was our second time staying here in the cabin and it was great. We were worried about privacy with having someone booked the tenting site but we barely knew they were there. The brush really filled in compared to our stay back in May.
The hosts were just as nice, friendly and responsive as our first stay. Love that our dogs get along and I didn’t have to worry about mine. She had a blast running around and playing.

I highly recommend this for an overnight adventure. Close to the city and a hidden gem.

This experience was hands down one of the most memorable times for myself and the ones I shared it with.
The cost was beyond reasonable.
If anyone is looking to create any life long lasting memories, this is by far your best bet.
The host and her family are very accommodating, yet allow for the privacy you are hoping to achieve by getting out of the city in the first place.
The property is breathtakingly beautiful and very well kept. Very enjoyable and not once problem or inconvenience arose for us, I couldnt have imagined a better result considering what we were looking to obtain.
I would highly recommend this property and I know I will definitely have this at the top of my list going forward.

We had a nice time at the Rustic Cabin. It was a quick 45 minute drive from our house and the directions were perfect. Eugena was easy to communicate with and the property was beautifully kept. We enjoyed the quiet afternoon, and the temperature dropped overnight so we could have a great sleep. The only problem was that the train whistle woke me up a few times, but other than that, it was a great place to visit. We will visit again!

Such a beautiful and peaceful experience. We just got away for one evening but the second we arrived we were able to turn off and chill. The communication was fantastic and kept us up to date with any little issues that had occured. It is very very rustic and we wished we had been able to stay longer, there was a box of camping supplies for bits we had missed. We walked around the property and loved every second. Will return

Weekend Trip to Avant Gardens
Beautiful cabin and property. Right on a farmland. If you like that isolated feeling, this is perfect. Many greenery around. We went for a walk and enjoyed the privacy. We even got to see her cows. Close to town to grab stuff and even to use the washroom at the grocery store. Things to note, there’s no electricity, no wifi. It rained during our stay and the cabin was so cold, only source of heat is by lightening a fire through the wood stove.

Eugena was so welcoming and accommodating!! She has a warm smile and makes sure you are comfortable. I loved the cabin and outdoor areas. The solar lights on the property made it a little more magical at night!! It is close enough to a little town where you could run and grab what you need, but it also feels like it is in the middle of nowhere!! It is so quiet and peaceful!!
This little get away was exactly what I needed to recharge. When I left my heart was happy and my mind was clear. I will definitely be back for another stay!!

The cabin at Elk Island Getaway was an amazing place to stay while the family went on some local adventures. In fact, at the end of our time there everyone agreed that the cabin was the best part!! It was really comfortable and the nearby pond was so peaceful! The duck and geese were entertaining to watch too. We also quite enjoyed walking the trails. For a small fee you get a good amount of firewood and the water with pump was perfect. We truly enjoyed our time there and would highly recommend it to other families!

Finding the cabin was super easy with the directions given, and not too far from the city! The cabin was peaceful, tucked into the trees and well-kept. All the basic camping supplies are there for cooking, and there is a cozy fire pit that is tucked behind the house - it felt very private. Our dogs were thrilled to be there off leash too! We’d definitely go again for another short time away from the city and would recommend to others!
