Family-friendly
Recent Hipcampers say this Hipcamp is great for families and kids.
The peace, quiet and beauty of nature is the theme at our property.  This land is dedicated to the re-sacralization of culture. The spot was an ancient Native American camping area.  People have found arrowheads, stone beads and grinding stones on the land.   We offer various types of camping sites, as well as a teepee - so please read each listing for specific amenity and location information. We sell firewood, fresh eggs, and raw honey on site. The amount and variety of wildlife is astonishing, with bear, deer, turkeys, fox, coyote, bobcat, Eagles, River otter, salmon and steelhead, with a wide variety of songbirds during migration. Easy access from road, close to town, tall oak trees, privacy, creek with salmon within a five minute walk, mountains, wildlife, barn owl nest box. Guests love staying here: "Elderberry camp was really great! It was a large site, plenty of space, shade, and parking. Very peaceful and good distance between other sites although we were pretty much the only campers out there. Outhouse was clean and there was drinking water. We spent most of our Saturday in Eel River which was great. The water was perfect for swimming and fishing, our husbands caught some big ones. Stephen was very nice and accommodating, the honey and eggs we asked for were a nice addition too!" Helpful0  Report

Shady Oaks
This was an amazing spot, beautiful and quiet. We stayed at Shady Oaks. There was a perfect amount of shade, it was close to the drinking water, close (but not too close) to the outhouse, and the trail to the creek was right behind the campsite. We were the only ones there, so not sure about noise from other sites, but they're a good distance from each other, maybe 50 yards and not visible from Shady Oaks. Stephen and Lars helped us with firewood, they were both super nice, good vibes. The creek was perfect, there were spots near the trail that were deep enough to swim in, which our dog loved, and the water wasn't too cold. Would definitely recommend!

Creekside camp 1
The site itself was fine. It's private unless someone else has the other site which is not super close but in view. Creekside #1 is better, in my opinion, because #1 gets shaded earlier - otherwise it's full sun all day. The creek is nice and there's a good spot to sit in your lounge chair. There's nothing to do otherwise unless you bring some activities. I personally didn't want to drive back out because the road in was kind of stressful. The instructions were super detailed, but I still passed it and it's not an easy road to turn around with a trailer. If you're coming from the south, the hipcamp is BEFORE the address given (property on the left) and the identifiers given were a little hard to spot. I found it though and at the gate I was greeted by the land caretaker because I couldn't figure out how to "pop" the lock.

Plateau camp
Willits quiet zone.
A super quiet getaway. 15 minutes from Willits, there's frontage in a nice, clean little creek with a tiny, but 5' deep, swimming hole. Level and easy to get into. We had lots of room to position our 19' trailer for afternoon shade under a pine tree. Less than half an hour to a far bigger swimming hole in a remote part of the Eel river. We went into Willits every morning for coffee and news and that was all besides naps and books. Nothing special, just quiet and easy.

Nice camping spot. Unfortunately the creek was dry, but there’s still a plenty to do nearby.

Absolutely Wonderful Experience
If you’re looking for a peaceful area with swimming, hiking and fishing near by, Stephens land is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for any getaway. I cannot recommend it enough. He is also a wonderful host. We had a majority of the property to ourselves which is so rare for summer, but we definitely weren’t complaining! It was so nice and we will be returning.

Great, clean spot
We really enjoyed camping here! My favorite part was star gazing. I have never in my life seen such a beautiful night sky and was thrilled to see a shooting star. We stayed up for hours just mesmerized by the sky. As far as the land goes it’s very clean and pretty. It’s summer so of course the creek was mostly dry but we did find some spots along the property with water and it was so fun watching the frogs, tadpoles, and dragonflies. Eel River also not too far away if you want to go swimming/tubing and host kind enough to give us directions so spent a great day there. It was so quiet on the land and was also great for bird watching. We loved listening to all the songs they sang. We spotted many cool birds. Afternoons are hot so as host recommends, bring something for shade on this ground. Nights were refreshing and cool. Nice fire pit and clean benches there for use. Thank you for allowing us to stay on your land. We would love to come back in the future.
