RV camping near Big Bear Lake guide

Overview

About two hours east of Los Angeles and three hours northeast of San Diego, Big Bear Lake is a popular weekend destination for Southern California city dwellers. Spring, summer, and fall offer plenty of outdoor opportunities, including hiking in San Bernardino National Forest, boating, fishing, and kayaking on the lake, and admiring the changing autumn leaves. A few RV parks sit right on and very near the lake, while several more dot the surrounding areas north and south of the lake.  In the winter, the area becomes a skiing destination—many RV parks stay open year-round but temperatures do fall below freezing. Big Bear Lake and the San Bernardino Mountains are located between LA and the desert, making it a great place to stop on a California road trip from the coast to Palm Springs, Joshua Tree National Park, or the Mojave Desert
