Oolenoy Valley

1 site · RV44 acres · Pickens, SC
This RV site is on our property where we first lived in a mobile home. We love camping and thought what a great place for a quite retreat. So we made the site into a full hook up RV camp site. Beautiful location with a view of Table Rock located in the Historic Oolenoy Valley. Our property is located in Northern Pickens Co. of South Carolina. Plenty of trails, boating, biking in the area or just sit under your awning and enjoy the wildlife. Important please read! There is not evening shade in July and August, However, there are shady spots very close to the camp site that you can enjoy. Where your camper sits the Sun goes down at the front of the camper. It is typically not an issue until mid-July and August. If you need additional details, please contact me. There are two homes near the camp site. The one behind the site is our home. Just me and my wife, currently no pets. The other home is a small white farmhouse that I currently rent to close friends. Chris and his wife and two well behaved kids. The kind of neighbors' people dream of! In five years of renting this site I have only had one couple that felt uncomfortable with the homes on our driveway. They chose not to stay, and I refunded them. It is very safe here and secluded from the main road. Look at all of the pictures to make sure this is the spot for you. Thanks Sincerely SteveG

The best camping near Table Rock State Park guide

Overview

About

It’s hard to miss the mountains at Table Rock State Park. Spanning more than 3,000 acres at the edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains in northwestern South Carolina, there are numerous hiking trails suitable for all abilities, including all the way to the top of namesake Table Rock and Pinnacle mountains. Along the way, explore the park’s Civilian Conservation Corps history, look for wildlife, and cool off at numerous streams and waterfalls. There are also different camping options and two lakes for visitors to enjoy. Swim in an old-fashioned swimming hole at Pinnacle Lake. Or paddle and fish for your dinner—bass, bream, and catfish can all be found in abundance here.

Notable campgrounds

  • The Table Rock Campground offers 94 standard tent and RV sites (including several that are ADA-accessible) with water and electrical hookups, plus 14 cabins and primitive tent sites.
  • Best for peace and quiet: The White Oaks Campground area is the smaller of the two standard camping areas with only 25 sites.
  • Best for comfort: Fully furnished cabins include heat, air conditioning, and everything else needed for a comfortable stay.
  • Best for organized groups: Three walk-in, primitive group camping sites with central water and privy are reservable in advance.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Book campsites or cabins online or by phone at least one day (for campsites) or three days (for cabins) in advance. Reservations can be made as soon as 13 months in advance. Most campsites and cabin reservations require at least a two-night minimum stay.
  2. For same-day reservations, call the park directly or plan to arrive as early as possible.
  3. Try to time your stay for less popular times, such as during the week or in winter.

When to go

Peak season at Table Rock State Park runs from April through to October. Early spring and late fall are good times to see the waterfalls at their fullest, and with fewer crowds. Winter is the best time to escape the crowds, but be aware that temperatures can dip to just below freezing. A popular event is the monthly bluegrass jam session held every second Saturday at the historic Table Rock Lodge.

Know before you go

  • The park has limited supplies nearby. Stock up in Greenville, Pickens, or Slater-Maria.
  • Free wifi is available at the visitor center, the country store near the campgrounds, and at campsites 1 through 5.
  • Hikers must register at the trailhead kiosk or Nature Center, and must be off all trails by sunset.
  • A South Carolina fishing license is required if you plan to fish at either Pinnacle Lake or Lake Oolenoy (which has an ADA-accessible pier).
  • Canoes, kayaks, pedal boats, and non-motor fishing boats can be rented from the visitor center or at Pinnacle Lake in season. Life jackets must be worn at all times. Lifeguards are only on duty between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
