Best in New York: Finalist
Named one of the best Hipcamps to visit in 2023.
We are no longer taking reservations we are in contract to sell. We are opening our land to campers as a means of keeping the habitat mostly undisturbed . The land had been up for subdivision, with 12 new homes planned since it adjoins our other 17 wooded acres we purchased it to try and keep it natural. We want to share it with other peaceful nature loving beings. The lake is home to Kingfishers, Herons, a Great White Egret, Wood ducks, swans and Bald Eagles. Birdwatching haven Wooded lakefront camping in the heart of the Hudson Valley, on 64 acres. Close to the Hudson River, Bard college, historic villages of Rhinebeck and Red Hook. Site 14 LAKE FRONT SITE Camper/ van
Not Private but Nice Views
Overall we liked this as our first test run for our small camping unit. We booked the lakeside site in hopes to have the best experience as it looked to be the most remote. Unfortunately, the way the campground is set up the public dock is right in this campsites space so other campers were coming through a lot which did make it feel very public instead of private. The grounds were clean, the hosts were kind, we enjoyed our stay a lot. If you're looking for very private sites, you might want to ask this host which one keeps you the farthest away as they are all closer together.

Site 4 - Cokertown Campground- lakeside camp
Nice little sit on the hill overlooking the lake. Stephanie met me at the entrance. And we followed her to the site. The sit has a small fire pit on the one side. There is a portapotty available but it is at the bottom of the hill, about a 2 minute walk. If you are camping here bring a little pop up potty tent to make your life easier. It was very quiet and secluded (which I like) all the feels of roughing it. We will definitely be back for a quick one or two nighter.

Site 1 - Cokertown Campground- lakeside camp
Very clean and looked after sites
Very quiet and relaxing area. You can tell that the hosts put a lot of work into maintaining their property. I would highly recommend staying here. It’s very centrally located to a lot of places in that part of New York State.

Site 5 - Cokertown Campground- lakeside camp
Such a peaceful spot
This spot was so perfect for our stopover in New York! Super accessible, flat spots for tents, and a pretty overlook on the lake! It's secluded but the town is only 6 minutes away so it's perfect

Site 5 - Cokertown Campground- lakeside camp
Both Herb and Stephanie were lovely hosts, and the campsite was great (they let us take the larger site farthest away from the road as we were the only people present for the weekend). The firewood they sell is excellent quality and quantity for the price. Would strongly recommend visiting when it's warm out to take advantage of the rowboat they provide for the small lake. Otherwise the area has several very nice attractions both natural and historical within easy driving distance.
