Enjoying 8 acres of the simpler life with Renee and our children, 15 minutes north of Harrisonburg, Virginia. We love animals, planting gardens, preserving quality food, and hiking and camping in both of the world-famous national parks here. We are 4th year hosts, and immensely gratified to share all we can from this amazing Shenandoah Valley. For many adventure seekers, we have been a gateway to nearby attractions, while many of our guests come here specifically to enjoy a humble get-away in the woods with electricity, great Wi-Fi and a hot shower. There are several petting zoos near us, in case you want a little close-up exposure to some cute farm animals. We are located 45 minutes from the Shenandoah National Park. Nathan is an avid hiker and familiar with many fun outdoor attractions in the area. Please reach out to us, should you need any help planning your trip. Some great hikes: Trayfoot Mountain to Blackrock Summit from Port Republic Rd Elliot Knob and High Knob fire towers Fridley's gap swimming hole & overlook. Meems Covered Bridge in Mt. Jackson Wildflower Trail (see a long lost, 500-pound millstone) Blue Ridge Tunnel Hone Quarry falls Reddish Knob Emerald Pond Yellow Rock Cliff and Storybook Trail (Great overlooks!!) Please ask about scheduled group hikes as well, we would love to help you have a good time. Other fun things: Frontier Cultural Museum Back Home on the Farm Melrose Caverns Ruby's Arcade (awesome wood fired pizza, 150 year old Duck Pin game)

Brown's Gap (Firepit campsite)
I loved camping here. The dog was super friendly, and the shower absolutely hit the spot. Would definitely stay again!

Crabtree Falls
Nice spot on farmland
Nice spot, well placed near Harrisonburg area, nothing overly fancy, but all you need and very helpful and welcoming host. The farm animals sounds were just so much fun in the morning, loved it!

Brown's Gap (Firepit campsite)
The owner is very nice but the dogs barked all night and since we were in a tent, it made it hard to sleep and kept our dog up as well.

Brown's Gap (Firepit campsite)
Relaxing getaway
The hosts were very nice and helpful. It was peaceful and no one bothered us. The animals could get a little noisy at night, but not for long. The shower has hot water and there's 2 seperate bathroom stalls to use. Walmart and other stores were only 12 minutes away for a quick store run. A nice little 2 day getaway. We're definitely planning on a longer visit next time and even told family about it.

Dark Hollow Falls
We stopped passing through on our way to the eclipse and this was a wonderful place to spend the night. We got there when it was dark and raining, so we stayed near the bathhouse, which was extremely clean and really stellar. The next morning we were greeted by a big ole friendly pupper who played with ours. Over night we were awakened by a strange animal noise neither of us could identify, despite us both growing up in the Appalachian forests. But because we grew up in the Appalachian woods, we knew to leave that noise well enough alone! We posted it on TikTok and a farmer suggested “a lonely cow looking for love.” Sure enough the next morning we spotted the big ole angus beefy boys hanging out in the field down the road! Do not fear the strange noises in these Appalachian woods……but don’t go looking for it either!

Yellow Cliffs Mountain
Yellow Cliff (travelers meadow)
Yellow Cliff is actually a decent spot on the farm. It's in a great location not far from the shower and bathroom. Its darker then the the last spot we were in because it's shaded by trees and I got to experience the sound of an owl at night time. It was very pleasant while sitting by the fire cooking dinner.
