Best cheap camping near old rag!
East and trouble free! Pulled in late at night and car camped then was able to easily hike white oak canyon the next day, the entrance of which is like 1 mile away. Its chill, I’ll come back and bring friends next time

Nice but odd...
This is an interesting place. When you arrive, you'll see on one side of the road there is a standard campground (with wifi, limited bathrooms, and campfires) but across the street and up a hill there is also a lodge with hotel style rooms. The lodge is open 24/7 but staff members are only there from about 7am to 6pm. It remains open the rest of the night which is very nice but just odd. Pros: -The wifi at the camp grounds was a lifesaver because there is no service. -The lodge is awesome. The staff built a roaring fire in the morning and there is coffee and a bathroom. There is also a restaurant there but I didn't get a chance to eat there. Cons: -If you arrive after 7pm the check in process is horrible. Where you're supposed to camp is unclear. There is a board with information on it but it's overwhelming and confusing. The wifi information had faded so I didn't even realize there was wifi until the 3rd night. Advice for the owners: Just create one sign that says "Welcome Campers, here is everything you need to know!" And just write out clear instructions of where to pitch your tent/park your vehicle, what the wifi password is, etc. -I also just couldn't figure out if the lodge was actually open to campers or just guests staying in the rooms.

Great spot!
Great spot to camp! Was a little nervous about getting there late at night and not having assigned spots, but was easy enough to find a clear space. Did not see showers anywhere, but did not look very hard. Portable bathrooms looked clean, but could definitely use emptying more frequently, as the smell was awful, and no hand sanitizer inside. Definitely can't beat it for the price, though! There were a couple brush fires on the mountain when we stayed, but still beautiful mountain views! Will definitely be back when we're in the area!
