The Range
Cozy Mountain Magic + Goats
Karina was such an exceptional host, and I can’t imagine a more beautiful campsite! Four of us— cousins— came here on a family trip, and my youngest cousin described this place as actual magic. She’s right.
The views at The Range campsite are breathtaking right from the start: open vistas, green mountains, the bluest skies, incredible sunsets and sunrise. Camp is cozy with plenty of open space for tents, cute stump seating and a little hangout space near the fire, and a lovely table-for-two under solar-powered lights on a large tree. There is fresh spring water available right near the campfire.
Lined along one slope is a wire fence behind which you’ll see visitors: a herd of happily grazing goats and three curious pigs who deeply appreciate any carrots you have on hand. If you’re lucky, you may also get a visit from two of the most gorgeous and sweet spirited-dogs ever, Ibu and Rhea, who (like their owner) love to host campers. Both dogs love belly rubs. In the morning, if you’re interested, Karina will let you help feed the goats up close and in person!! They are so impossibly cute. The youngest baby white goat absolutely stole our hearts.
We had such a good time at this site, and felt like we were camping in a fairytale. What a great first Hipcamp experience. Our host could not have been more gracious and communicative. We hope to come back for more visits!

Camp Escondida
Amazing campsite with incredible views. Very private, yet easy access to nearby San Luis Obispo. The goats and pigs were an added bonus to our morning walk!

Purí Camp
Mud and adventure
Absolutely incredible stay and hospitality. It poured during our over night and we still had a blast. Karina and her husband were such genuine people. We got stuck in the mud coming up the mountain. They came to rescue us and drove our car up to the site then back down in the morning because we were not as comfortable driving in the mud. I cannot wait to come back when the weather is nice. The animals were so much fun our views were breathtaking even in the rain and clouds. Be cautious if it’s rainy season and you are not super comfortable with mud otherwise I would not miss this opportunity to stay here. Thank you Camp Puri!!!

Purí Camp
Tent Camping with Views
Karina’s camp and grounds are super peaceful, amenities and views are great, and the property is the perfect proximity to San Luis Obispo where you feel like you’re in the wilderness but can easily drop into town and hit a brewery or store. Wish we could have met the animals this time around but we’ll definitely be back!

Purí Camp
Peaceful Mountaintop Camping
Karina's campsites at the ranch are absolutely beautiful! The first campsite, Purí Camp, is right next to the trail leading up to it and has a cute little table and chairs, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the oak woodland. The second campsite is right nearby, but has a completely different feel! A tiny trail leads to a clearing nestled behind the bushes with views of the pine forest.
Both sites are located along the trail that leads in two directions through the property. One way leads up to the very top of the mountain and gets you amazing, expansive views of San Luis Obispo, all the way to the ocean! Be sure to be at the top for sunset - the golden light is incredible. The other direction will lead you through the madrone forest and down toward a little pond. There is also another trail on the road outside the front gates that goes deep into the Los Padres National Forest - also quite beautiful to hike or bike!
When you're not exploring the many trails on the ranch, you can greet the farm animals! The pigs, sheep, goats, and chickens are so entertaining to watch and greet. Karina even sells her own eggs and honey at her farm stand by the front gate!
There is also fresh mountain spring water from a spigot at the base of the little hill the campsites are on. All in all, we would absolutely recommend La Montaña Ranch and would love to stay here again! You really can't beat the views and opportunity for adventure on this property.
