Visit us and discover why Hipcamp named this property the best Hipcamp to Visit in Nebraska for the past three years. Located within 2 miles from Hwy 71, we're easy to find, easy to love, and easy to leave, according to hundreds of guests who have left positive recommendations... Peaceful Prairie Campsites consists of 200+ acres of prairie pasture bordering the south side of Scotts Bluff National Monument. Under the care of Gering native, Lisa Betz-Marquez, the beautiful bluffs feature a rosy hue that glows on the hills at dawn and dusk. Tent sites (including pop up campers, car and camper vans but not RVs or pull-behind trailers) are located directly on the prairie. RV sites (all offering 50 amp electricity) are in a designated area on crushed concrete near our corral. A funky outdoor camp shower is conveniently onsite for all campers beginning June 10, 2024. All sites offer immediate foot access to hiking at various levels of challenge, including the south side of our nation's Scotts Bluff National Monument. Our 33-year-old sweetheart horse Tigger, and her gal pal Martha, the 17-year-old donkey, are free roaming the area. Both enjoy meeting campers. They can be placed in another area if you would rather they didn't wander by for conversation. A small group of yearling cattle are also at home on the prairie in summer months. Prairie guests have relished the feeling of having the place to themselves to enjoy the majesty of the landscape, the magic of our starry night skies, and the delicious drinking water that comes from an aquifer deep underground. Lisa is the fourth generation of her family to live on Valley View Farm, located directly south of the prairie. Her family has been steward of these lands since 1925. Lisa is a member of a pioneer family. Ancestor, Martin Gering, came to the valley in 1887. As an early investor in the fledgling town, the town of Gering was named for him. If you're a history buff, ask Lisa to tell you more...

Beautiful and remote farmland
The views are incredible. It’s a great place to make a 1-night stopover between destinations.

Camping with animals and sites
I loved camping here at Lisa’s land! We got to pet Martha (donkey) and tigger (horse). We got some company from the cows which was so awesome and fun. We woke up to them greeting us in the morning. The views were wonderful! We went to see the Milky Way, and we were able to see it! Lisa was very generous and helpful!

Partial Shade (Tent/Car/Van)
Loved the spot and would surely visit again. I was on a cross-country road trip with my daughter and felt very safe on the property. The setting was lovely and Lisa was a great host.

Yellowstone Trip
Just got back from our trip to Yellowstone. We stayed one day (was going to be two but I miscalculated driving distances) on our way out and one day on our way back. We met Lisa and it was like we knew her for years. She is a wonderful person. The property is absolutely beautiful! It was like camping in a post card. If you get the chance, you have to stay here. Hopefully we will be back and spend some more time there. Thank you Lisa for making our trip great!

10/10!
Lisa was a wonderful host. Her campsite is absolutely beautiful and offers unbeatable views of the bluffs. She was very welcoming and made sure we were comfortable with all details of the campsite during checkin. I would recommend this campsite to anyone looking to spend some quality time in nature in a peaceful and serene environment.
