Orange River Getaway With Kayaks

2 sites · RVs5 acres · Fort Myers, FL
Welcome to our 5 acre property tucked away in Buckingham Rural Community. You will have direct river access! My family fell in love with this property when we rescued it from disrepair, it was once known as "Harmony Gardens" and we invite you to join us bringing back the glory. Our property is home to all kinds of wildlife, we have cardinals, bluejays, barred owls, herons, swallow-tailed kites, warblers, huge pileated woodpeckers, and if you wander to the water you may see an alligator or manatee depending on the season. Orange River is the river that passes through the highly rated Manatee Park, we have kayaks and paddleboards available for your pleasure at an additional cost. We have typical comfort restaurants such as Cracker Barrel and Waffle house nearby but I would suggest local flavors of Buckingham Farms and Rum Bucket Grill. I-75 is about 10 minutes away so although we are tucked away, most of FL isnt too far for a day's trip.

The best camping near Collier-Seminole State Park guide

Overview

About

Covering 7,271 acres, this Florida state park on Marco Island contains one of the largest mangrove swamps. Rest in the shade of big cypress trees and see the stands of royal palms from the hiking trails. From December to March, park rangers offer programs on a variety of topics.

While visiting the park check out a historic mechanical engineering landmark. This Bay City Walking Dredge is the last of the road that once connected the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area to Tampa.

Explore the park from one of the 105 campsites with 19 of them for tent use only. You can bring your RV up to 50-foot long and find electricity, water, a grill, and a picnic table.

A couple of the campground sites have hammocks to sleep under the stars. Pets are welcome at the campgrounds. The bathrooms have hot showers and one has laundry facilities. Two primitive campsites welcome visitors. The one at Grocery Place is even canoe-in!

When to go

The best time to visit Collier-Seminole State Park is during the cooler months from November to March. Wildlife is abundant, and the weather is perfect for outdoor activities. Summer months can be hot and humid, with a higher chance of rain and storms, possibly affecting park access and comfort.
