Overview

If you're visiting North Bend, chances are you may be a fan of the classic TV series Twin Peaks, which was filmed in this compact city. While Twin Peaks tourism is a big deal here to this day, there's plenty more to see and do, even if you aren't a fan of the program. Highlights include the historical McGrath Hotel, dating back to 1922 and the slightly newer North Bend Theater, which operates as a movie theater to this day. North Bend also puts you within easy reach of outdoor recreation in the surrounding Snoqualmie Valley and is just a 20-minute drive from the slopes at Snoqualmie Pass.

Where to go

Snoqualmie Valley

North Bend is situated right in the Snoqualmie Valley, a region dotted with lakes, rivers, and hiking trails that make it ideal for summertime recreation. Popular activities include hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing and kayaking.

Snoqualmie Pass

A short drive east of town, Snoqualmie Pass has long been popular with skiers, snowboarders, and innertube enthusiasts, with slopes for all levels. The most challenging, Alpental, draws experienced skiers from around the region.

Bainbridge Island

Across the Puget Sound, Bainbridge Island is a popular getaway for Seattle-area residents, with great shopping and restaurants plus a handful of museums. It's also an excellent place to explore the great outdoors, with plenty of spots to hike, fish, and camp during the summer months.

When to go

North Bend is best visited in July and August, when temperatures are at their warmest and rainfall is less likely, though June and September are also relatively warm with an average eight or nine days of rain. The rest of the year is cool and rainy, but not cold, making North Bend and the surrounding areas good for year-round camping. While December and January can get pretty cold, temperatures rarely dip below freezing, even at night.
