Beach camping in Washington guide

Overview

Washington State has thousands of miles of shoreline, abutting both the Pacific Ocean and the Puget Sound. While it's usually too cold to swim in this part of the US (at least without a wetsuit), there's still a lot to do, from clamming to beach camping. Some Washington state parks offer beach campsites with fire pits and picnic tables, as well as heated yurts and a host of amenities including restrooms, dump stations, and potable water. Popular waterfront options among campers include Cape Disappointment State Park, Pacific Beach State Park, and Ocean City State Park. Olympic National Park also offers plenty of campsites near the Washington Coast, and lots of beach tent camping and glamping opportunities can be found at private oceanfront Hipcamps across the Olympic Peninsula and further north in the San Juan Islands.
