The two met in 1992 at a log home B&B in West Virginia and have stayed at many B&Bs and log lodges ever since. In 1996, these former Washingtonians moved to Vermont to pursue their dream of owning a B&B. Wise Pines is a holistic and sustainable Bed and Breakfast/Hiker Hostel with a unique farm stay experience. It sits on 40 acres of land with wooded trails and a pond to sit by. We have a veggie garden, fruit trees, chickens, and goats. *electric fencing is LIVE!* We utilize solar energy and have energy efficient rated buildings.
Goats are natural escape artists and love to explore the property to eat trees and more grass. You may see them running around or taking an afternoon nap on the hill, outside of their fenced in area.
The owners of the property, Chelsey and Jon live with with their two young kids and dogs on the premises. The dogs are unleashed and friendly (though they will come running and barking loudly to say hi)!
We have a yoga studio and offer classes upon request and Reiki sessions by appointment. BREAKFAST is available at 9:00am Thursday-Sunday (October-May) and daily June-September at 8:00am. Breakfast items rotate with the seasons, and change daily. Much of our food is sourced from our own garden and hens or other local sources. You can expect, and are not limited to an offering of: frittatas, breakfast tacos, quiches, quinoa breakfast bowls, root veggie hash, fresh fruit, sausages, smoothie bowls, pancakes, baked goods and more! All food is prepared by our Chef, Alex. Each day we have one offering, but can easily accommodate dietary restrictions. "At Your Leisure" or To-Go breakfast options may be available as well!
We have many games for you to use, a bluetooth movie projector, walking trails (sometimes needing a bit of maintenance), a fire pit and grill.
The property is in the woods rustic woods of Vermont, amongst all of its seasons. Please note that we do our best to maintain the property as weather arises, but the walkways, some of which are a bit steep, may be snowy, icy or otherwise. Please come prepared with a vehicle and shoes that are suited for the season of your arrival (mud, snow and ice) for both our property and the town road we live on. Checking in during daylight hours is advised.
Nearby, the town of Woodstock in only minutes away with cute shops and restaurants. There are many local hikes, national and state parks, the Quechee Gorge, white water rapids, The VAST (snowmobile trails), ski resorts and array of local events to attend.

Learn more about this land:This is a new tree tent that comfortably fits two people. It’s a triangle, and holds up to 880lbs. The tree tent is wonderful for people who enjoy heights and are comfortable navigating hillsides. The tent is surprisingly comfortable as the triangle has a lot of support, from the equivalent of three slack lines. This is a tree canopy experience for those who apprecate adventure and a thrill. The low side is about 6 feet up in the air and the other side is about 10 feet up but gives the impression of being higher as it looks down the hillside through the forest. I have set up a bench and a table underneath the tree tent that functions for a great place to eat with a view as well as to get into the tree tent. If you have a couple friends that want to join you I have a hammock that works well, though not in comparison to the Tree tent. If you have friends that want to join you, for a modest extra fee, I have a Camping hammock that works well, though not in comparison to the tree tent. There is an outhouse nearby ( a throne with a view) and a water spigot with great well water 75 yards away. This tree tent is designed to be a fun, safe, different, and adventurous experience. There is also a fire pit with a couple benches just 30 yards from the tent. The site is a 3 1/2 mile drive from the center of Montpelier, which is a relatively small city but is the Capitol of Vermont has a lot of character, restaurants, and culture for its size. There is over 30 miles of trails nearby including some mountain bike paths many hiking paths, Vermont has many epic trail systems throughout. We also have some great swimming holes. Mount Hunger, White rocks, and Spruce Mountain are all relatively short and fun hikes, not to mention the extensive long trail.Adventure and fun await!
