Located in a private gated area on the shores of Kolob Reservoir, Kolob Campground is the premiere location for camping on Kolob Mountain in the Greater Zion National Park area. Kolob Campground is located adjacent to the Kolob Reservoir boat ramp and dock, including four acres of private shoreline. Just a few feet from the paved road, nestled in tall aspen, oak, and pine trees. Access to potable water is available adjacent to camp, and public restrooms (vault toilets) are only a short walk from camp.WiFi access is available nearby at Kolob Adventure Rentals/Adventure Beach (3 minute walk). WiFi location and password provided by host upon request. This is an exclusive benefit available to our guests, and the only WiFi available to campers in the area.Canoe, kayak and SUP rentals, snacks and beverages are also located nearby. LP(propane) fires are allowed and LP fire bowls can be provided through the camp host. LP fuel is also available for purchase. It was part of a larger, 2,500 acre parcel that has been used for grazing sheep the last 100 or so years. As was common in those days, the male heir inherited the larger portion to continue the family business of sheep, and the three females inherited 1 acre each. My paternal grandmother fondly recalls spending her summers exploring the flora and fauna and staying overnight in a small cabin that they called “Camp Joy.” My father, also used to visit this area during his youth and has many fond memories of when the family would “Hie to Kolob.” My grandmother, being too old to enjoy the place herself, wanted to sell her portion to someone who would be able to enjoy it in this life. She didn’t believe in restricting access to the wonderful and uniquely awe inducing land surrounding Zion National park. She knew humans are just mere stewards , temporarily living off the land that Mother Nature has so generously provided for. My father and mother also shared this vision so (with his sisters/cousins permission) he purchased her share and the two adjoining lots that were owned by his aunts and combined them so we could have a place to park our trailers in the summertime. The advent of the internet and the resurgence of people wanting to go somewhere with their families to experience the peace and tranquility one can only find in the wilds, led us to feel that sharing this slice of heaven was not only economical but the right thing to do. So much of Kolob and the surrounding areas are marked off by private property, owners who aren’t even there to enjoy it 99% of the time. So we felt divinely called to offer our humble slice of heaven to likeminded individuals, seeking tranquility and peace but for some cosmic reason didn’t stand to inherit private property in the middle of one of the most beautiful places on earth. So welcome friend. We only ask, as you leave this place, to please bring with you this spirit of abundance and joy to wherever you call home.

Some of the animals you might spot include owl, bear, mountain lion, bobcat, deer, coyote, turkey, snakes, lizards, as well as many different types of birds. There is very little light pollution making the night sky dazzling & unforgettable.

Cabin info ($139/night + $99 cleaning fee): This cabin is a cozy 744 square feet. It's off-grid, but we have a 500 gallon water system, an electric start generator, and a propane tank. We hope to also get some solar power up there soon! It's 1 bedroom, 1 bath, and a loft. Max capacity of 8 people (all-new bedroom mattresses as of 2024): 2 in bedroom on full-sized mattress 2 on full-sized pull-out bed in living room area 2 on north side of loft on queen-sized mattress 2 on south side of loft on full-sized mattress There is a front deck and a large back deck, where multiple tables can be set up for eating. There is also a full outdoor kitchen. This cabin would also be great as a fishing/hunting base camp - Mammoth Creek, Lowder Ponds, Panguitch Lake, and more are all close! After stumbling into Kanab 5 years ago (en route to Montana) I noticed immediately my soul was home. This place embraced me in a way I cannot describe in words. Two years ago I sold everything, this property came up for sale. My requirements for were as follows: several acres for my horse friends, hiking trails from the back door, a kick butt view, few neighbors, a resident bird of prey (we have a bald eagle and a Kestrel!), and a really unique place to live in (we live in the loft attached to the garage). This place had it all. After getting a message from a roadrunner (seriously) I went to the real estate office and bought the place. We made renovations to the house (and of course we are always working on renovations! A few months later we had our first guest. Learn more about this land:Wake up to coffee on the patio, the sound of horses milling about, and the brilliant Vermillion cliffs. Watch while the local ravens, peregrine falcons, red tail hawks, and other wild life provide the morning entertainment. Take a walk down the path into the Pinon-Juniper Forest and find native pottery scattered about (please leave it where it lies!) remnants of our native ancestors that once occupied this sacred land of red dirt. We are a private 3 acre horse rescue & people sanctuary. Two local trailheads roughly a miles walk from the backdoor, or you can walk down the dirt path out back and find your own trail. We are committed to being as organic and sustainable as possible. At our place you will find organic bathing and cleaning products, organic sheets and pillows, we even have two cotton and wool beds for you (free of chemicals!). We also make our own essential oils and body products from our local plants! You'll get a chance to try them out during your stay.(Three bedrooms, two bathrooms.
