Beach camping in North Dakota guide

Overview

A beach vacation amid the Great Plains and Badlands of North Dakota? It might seem improbable, but with more than 400 lakes and rivers, and two of the largest man-made reservoirs in the US, you'll find plenty of sandy shores to fish, swim, and camp around the Peace Garden State. Family campers make a beeline for Devils Lake in summer, where both Devils Lake State Park and Grahams Island State Park have lakeside campgrounds and swimming beaches, while boating, canoeing, and water skiing are all on the menu at the beaches of Beaver Lake State Park. There's also primitive camping and a modern campground to choose from at Jamestown Reservoir Beach, and lakefront tent and RV camping close to the sandy beaches of Lake Metigoshe State Park. Or, for the ultimate in beach breaks, head to Lake Sakakawea State Park to play a game of beach volleyball and build some sandcastles.
