The driveway enters down to our creek-side camping where a hammock under a tree awaits a quiet reader or a bird watcher. We have multiple species of song birds. It's just a 30 minute drive to the beach, or mountains, a short walk to the neighborhood park- equipped with a playground, or a five minute drive to a local ecological reserve containing multiple trails. If you'd like to hang out on the property, we offer a table and chairs with each campsite to lounge in while enjoying the fresh air and nature. In addition, we have a propane-powered fire pit, an outdoor kitchen with full amenities, including, hot water, a two burner stove, a toaster oven and a BBQ area. The bathroom now includes a flush toilet, sink and shower. Fun Fact: Harbison Canyon was named after John Stewart Harbison - aka the King of the Bee Keepers. He arrived with over one hundred colonies of bees in 1874 and within 7 years he became the worlds largest honey producer. Today there are just a few bees in the area.

Nopalito Farm has been in operation since late 2014, but the property itself has been a working farm for over 50 years. Lemons and avocados were the primary crops from the 70’s through the 00’s, and are still prominent throughout our 15 acres. Our predecessors then diversified the growing operation by planting a wide range of fruit trees ranging from guavas and passion fruit to peaches and figs. For a decade, hops were grown on 2 acres and were sold to breweries throughout southern California. We’ve since replaced the hop yard with perennial flowers, but continue to cultivate a wide variety of delicious fruits.

Bailes Farm

One of the last remaining undeveloped parts of Southern California, De Luz Heights is located adjacent to the Cleveland National Forest, and the Santa Margarita River (just a few miles from the campsite). This 12-month flowing river is the only one in Southern California that has never been altered or dammed by humans, and features a state-managed hiking trail with many water holes along the way with clear, clean water to dip into. On my 80 acres, there are no major roads going through or next to the property. My land is 13 miles from the Pacific ocean and enjoys a relatively mild yearly climate. Giant boulders provide topographical relief and offer platforms from which to enjoy the view of the nearby Santa Margarita Mountains. The valley views are filled with olive and avocado groves, vineyards, and horse ranches. The Camp Pendleton Marine Corps base is nearby, so you might hear some artillery in the distance on some occasions. The campsite embraces all the comforts of "glamping": a hot shower, composting toilet, beds with sheets provided, gas grill with a stovetop, pots and pans, kitchenware, a sink, picnic table, shaded deck, sofa, lounge chairs, and propane fire pit. The basics are provided: toilet paper, paper towels, purified drinking water, towels, sheets, cooking oil, etc. Campers need to bring their own blankets. I've created a network of hiking trails for especially fit hikers looking for a more rigorous hike than the nearby Santa Margarita River Trail. My trails lead through creek beds, over boulders, through rocky crags, with views of the Pacific ocean on a clear day. Hikers on my trails need to wear proper hiking boots with good traction. Sections of my trails will require bouldering with hands and feet. Expect to have fatigued quadriceps, some scrapes, and a sweaty hat brim. The campsite is accessible with a two-wheel drive vehicle; I drive a Kia Forte out there regularly. However, some tips when driving a two-wheel drive car: when going uphill on a dirt road, try to keep some momentum of about 12-15 MPH. If you stop and try to start again, your tires will spin out. If that happens, just reverse down the hill, and try it again with more momentum.

Children have space to run & play; using their imagination, climbing trees, playing with provided walkie talkies & and family friendly games — all in the freedom of your 8,000+ sq. ft. space! Inside, you won’t believe you’re in a camper. Renovated in 2019 this Comfy+Cozy Camper is exactly that. The sleeping areas have blackout blinds as well as the kitchen window. Cozy up in the queen bed on a 3” mattress topper next to double sconces; perfect for a night read, or cuddle up and watch some TV. The bunkroom has its own door for privacy, separate sitting area with table, sleeps 3 with a 200lb max weight limit for both top bunks. Inside the bunkroom I've provided fun coloring books with colored pencils, books and walki talkies. If you need a pack-n-play, please let me know! This space is perfect size for kids 10 and under, though adults have squeezed in! Nearby the Camper sits our chicken coop, each stay you’ll be provided a fresh eggs & you’re welcome to grab more from the coop and say hi! Also, feel free to pick yummy oranges & avocados during season! We’re close to Bonsall shopping center which has some of our favorite restaurants; Z cafe, Fresco Grill, Peking Wok, Tekila Cocina & Village Pizza. If you head into town there is amazing BBQ and Mexican restaurants! Close to fun trails; Los Jilgueros, Santa Margarita & Monserate Mountain. Or kickback at the local movie theater. All of my recommendations for food+drinks+things to do have been put together in the Comfy+Cozy Welcome Book, which I will send to you upon arrival and a hard copy is placed in property.

The camp area has seven spots that can be occupied by other glampers, and has a common use firepit with Adirondack chairs for those who want to compare notes about their wine tasting adventures. Plenty of onsite parking. In the morning, grab your coffee and step outside to watch the hot air balloons drift overhead. During the day, sample local vino from the 50 nearby wineries. In the evening, nosh at one of the great restaurants in Old Town Temecula, and then return to camp for sunset views and fireside relaxation. You should know that there are two free-roaming Blue Heelers who live on the 5-acre property and make regular visits to the camp area. Visiting dogs that socialize well with other dogs are welcome by us and by Molly and Taz as well, but please be honest with yourself and us about your dog's temperament, and book elsewhere if there is ANY chance of canine conflict with our very energetic pups. Also, Molly does not trust very small children (we think there was an incident), so if you have small children, we ask that you keep them from interacting with our Heelers.

We have direct access to the Santa Margarita River Trails, a three minute drive; which are famous for world-class hiking, mountain biking and horse riding along the last free-flowing river in Southern California. We are also a 20-minute drive to Old Town Temecula, 30-minute drive to the beach in Oceanside and 15-minute drive to the east gate of Camp Pendleton. In 1-2 hours, you can also get to Mount Palomar, Julian, Idyllwild, San Diego, Orange County and other destinations. We offer a camping spot large enough for your own trailer, RV or tents next to our barn. You can also select the add-on for our trailer to be set up and ready for your arrival (this option will appear at checkout). There is an outdoor shower and rustic water closet, as well as water and electric hookups. Please see the site descriptions or inquire for any additional details. Traveling with horses? They have room to stay in our Horsetel too! We have up to 5 stalls available in a covered barn, complete with automatic waterers, feeding mats, wash rack, round pen and fenced pasture. Any horses staying must be in good health and up to date on all vaccines. We can arrange for a trail guide to take you and your horses on the local trails, as well (trails are advanced terrain). **When reserving stalls for your horses, select only one guest for the sites to show as available. Horse stalls may not be booked without owners booking the campsite for the same duration. Boarding is not available.
