Death Valley RV Site #7 in the East
Nacho was a great host. Very helpful. Place is easy to get to and easy to park. They have a shower that's clean. My water heater broke so it was nice to have a hot shower.

Tent site no. 3 Lake Olancha
Recommended! (w/minor caveats)
An unexpectedly delightful desert oasis. Sandy ground, desert & mountains all around. Inexplicably a pretty pond (not Lake Olancha, a smaller, possibly man-made pond?) heavily populated by peeping frogs and birds, with reeds and 2-level docks and a fun walkway over the pond. Birds frolicking day & night which I loved. Hotter than hell in the sun & delightfully chilly at night - great sleeping. Enormous firepit & clean picnic table. Nacho/Irene was very responsive and kind about allowing me to dispose an awkward broken drawer frame in the dumpster. Grounds very clean all around. 1 double-edged sword: As a woman travelling alone it felt very safe. Part of that safety was the amount of lighting. I was in site 3, and between sites 2 and 3 there was a large, top of telephone pole motion sensor light. So if the wind blew the trees the light came on, and it was bright. My car-top tent has blackout walls, but a light sleeper in a regular tent might be bothered. However, the 2am bathroom walk was easy! Two points of minor warning 1. If its not clear from the site map, there is zero privacy. As an overnight on the way to elsewhere I didn't mind at all, but I wouldn't recommend it as a destination. 2. The single bathroom and shower are one unit, shared by all campers. So pee early and often as you might arrive to find 3 people in front of you waiting for a shower! Everyone was really nice about taking turns and advancing "emergencies" to the front of the line. :-)

Alabama Hills, Lakeside RV Spot #12
Really enjoyed being at this campground directly across from a lovely marshland area with birds singing and entertaining us throughout our visit. View of the mountains reflected in the pond were spectacular in the morning. See lots of effort to maintain the sites and encourage growth of trees.

Tent site no. 3 Lake Olancha
This campground was amazing. Clean and orderly and the host had great communication. And let’s not forget about the view of the mountains. Get up for sunrise - you won’t be disappointed.
