Description

Just 26 miles south of West Yellowstone on the Buffalo River is Buffalo Campground. It’s located in an area of extinct volcanic activity and the mixed growth forest here provides partial shade with aspens and summer wildflowers dotting the landscape. The Buffalo River is excellent for brook and rainbow trout fishing, and the wildlife here is plentiful. Black and grizzly bear, moose, elk deer, bald eagle, and sandhill cranes aren’t out of the realm of possibility. Try The Big Springs National Recreation Water Trail for a three-hour float or canoe trip leading you through beautiful scenery.
