Amazing wyoming camping spot
This is an AMAZING spot! It was gorgeous and a super cool place to stay! Mikel was super kind and accommodating! Our dog loved exploring the property and running around in all the wide open space! Would HIGHLY recommend this place!
All respect to my host Mikel - I can’t recommend staying here. I had a few problems: first, while booking, I was charged less than what Mikel apparently intended. I paid the difference in cash upon arriving. Second, late check-in is problematic... in Mikel’s defense the listing mentions a 7PM cutoff, which I glossed over. That being said - plans change, folks are on different schedules, and it doesn’t seem too hard to accommodate. The reaction that I got from Mikel was a decision to quit Hipcamp. Third, I was told I could pitch my tent on a field in front of the property, which was fine, except... it was covered in horse droppings and plants which can puncture tents. I wasn’t willing to ask about the amenities mentioned in the listing because of the late check-in, so wi-fi/shower were not really available. Even if the issues were addressed, for the price of this site, I don’t think it is worth it.
This hipcamp is an absolutely must visit! My husband and I stayed in the Prairie Princess for a night on a cross-country trip and could have not have been more pleased with our stay. Mikel is the consummate host, offering opportunities for ice cold beer and an absolutely delicious steak dinner at the end of a drive day and the best damn coffee we’d had in many states. She offered us not only an inviting atmosphere but lively and interesting conversation at meal times, as well as space and privacy otherwise. Watching the antelope and horses graze on the field, a lighting storm across the prairie, and a stunning sunrise were unforgettable.
The site was everything expected and more. Beautiful, peaceful, refreshing. The views were stunning as promised. Mikkel was incredibly generous. We’d definitely stay here again!
Will exceed your expectations
The only regret you will have is not staying additional nights. Impeccable 5 star service, 5 star personal chef and host, and trust me, as a picky vegan my expectations are high. Mikel prepared enough steak for two for my husband. Sites facing panoramic view of Big Horn Mountains. Abundant wildlife. Star and Milky Way gazing unmatched in our travels. Mikel generously provided knowledgeable local history, travel tips, a tour of the ranch and maps. The only reason I am remotely looking forward to returning home is to use my hand picked sage brush in recipes including vegan soap. This is not a ‘stop over’ booking. It’s a destination. Easy access from interstate is a bonus. Thank you Mikel. We will be back.
Family of 6 that loves adventures
Finding the right words for our experience at Spiritriders camp is difficult. It is just one of those places that you have to experience for yourself. It is MAGICAL. We loved every minute. When we pulled up in our RV, the dogs and Mikel immediately greeted us. We were able to meet Cheyenne the horse too.
Mikel was ready with some really yummy rum drinks after our long drive from Jackson Hole. The kids were able to ride their bikes around the land and really explore the property. It is remote and just beautiful. We opted to have Mikel make us a steak dinner for an added fee. She made it over the open fire and everyone had PLENTY to eat. She even made chicken for me because I don't eat red meat and some awesome potato salad. It was such an experience. Mikel was interesting, kind, funny and just the best host. We WISHED we had spent more time so we could have gone on a hiking trip with her. I know my kids (ages 15, 12,9, 9) will be talking about Mikel and their experiences during our short time there for a LONG time. They are already planning their summer camp there. I would recommend this place to everyone and anyone. Thank you Mikel for a wonderful time.
Prairie escape with strong wifi!!
Magical private retreat, unique camp with a rejuvenating energy that made us want to stay. F. Mikel was an amazing host and made us feel right at home. The hearty steak dinner and was a great break from our camp food and was provided in a stunning setting. Not everyone is a fan of staying connected, but if you need wifi, Spiritriders has it! Don't be surprised if you have hundreds of photos on your phone when you leave.
Worth every penny
There’s nothing quiet like the Spiritriders Retreat, so peaceful! The host, Mikel was a pleasure to do business with. I highly recommend the steak dinner and Prairie Princess trailer, it was so chic and comfortable. Fresh Wyoming air blowing in the windows all night (we decide to keep them open), it was such an amazing experience my kids can’t stop talking about it. The sunset was phenomenal, the property was so spacious and we were free to roam. The horses and dogs were so much fun for the kids, my kids loved being able to fly kites (we brought our own kites) and play horseshoes. Mikel was very accommodating, don’t hesitate to ask her anything. She goes above and beyond the typical standard, worth every penny. Such good family memories made at the Spiritriders Retreat, we will be back!
