The vibe at Crazy Woman Canyon Camp
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
This is not your typical campsite. It is pure western magic. Mikel is a fantastic host. She excels at making you feel immediately welcome and at home. Her property is rejuvenating and has a special energy that puts you at ease. We absolutely loved chatting with Mikel (who went above and beyond to make us an incredible dinner!) over beers, building a campfire, and enjoying the canvas tepees set on the property. Campers are invited to set up their own tents, park a van or RV, or hunker into a tepee. Regardless of your sleeping choice, you will wake up feeling rested, taking in beautiful views of the Big Horn mountains. If you're looking for true western hospitality you'll find no better than staying with Mikel and her loveable Labrador Woodrow. Do yourself a favor and book at least two nights.
Campung at Spiritriders was not only our first Hipcamp experience, but also our first major camping experience! It could not have gone better. Mikel and her sweet gentle dog, Woodrow, met us at the drive in one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. The weather was unseasonable cold and a bit rainy so she put us up in her barn and gave us blankets. She offered us anything we could possibly need and the breakfast she assembled the following morning really helped us get back on the road.
Thanks, Mikel! It's so lovely meeting like-minded people in new-to-us places.

Crazy Woman Canyon Camp was a hoot. It is a little out of the way (DO NOT FOLLOW GOOGLE DIRECTIONS) but well worth the experience. Mikel is warm and welcoming. She is fun and interesting to talk with, and goes out of her way to make your stay a great experience. Yogurt, fruit and muffins for breakfast were a welcome surprise.
We had high winds the two nights we were there. These are not taunt tents so lots of flapping noise, but hey I actually loved the sound of the wind while remaining warm and safe. One night there were 9 other guests so we ended up with a group camping experience. Enjoyed meeting everyone and easy to slip off to our own tent. Would go back!
