The vibe at Dogcamp
Places to see near Reynolds Family Ranch
Dogcamp was slightly ‘ruff’ (bad pun, sorry) to locate, but once we found the spot it was truly a gem. Very secluded and incredibly quiet. My only regret was not staying longer. Highly recommended.
'Dog Camp' at the Reynolds Family Ranch was an exceptional place to enjoy some solitude and this weekend's meteor shower while I decompressed from the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
The camp on this Scottish Highland cattle ranch is beautiful and secluded. The landscape is fantastic, as their property sits right on the meeting place of the low rock formations of The Black Hills and the plains that run out westward toward the Big Horns.
Their camp is very secluded- a mile up a soft dirt road through timber and the occasional Antelope. The sky is wide open and the sunset through the treeline was incredible.
Reynolds Family Ranch are grass fed beef purveyors! They sell at their local farmer's markets, and if you ask in advance, you can cook meat raised on that very ranch at your campsite during your stay. I am in the food and beverage industry and was so impressed with their practices and their ground beef. This was a great camp, that ended up with a deeper education into Wyoming grass fed cattle and was a wonderful Agro tourist experience!
Thank you Florence and Alf for the lovely evening, the kind conversation, sharing your land and your excellent meat. I will be back and be in touch! I absolutely recommend a night or two at DogCamp when passing through these parts!

great stay, met some sweet other campers and shared a campfire in a very secluded field
Alf's place is a good bit off the road, giving it a very surreal feeling to what you would imagine Wyoming would hold for adventurers! With so much land available to hike around, it was a blast exploring Dogcamp, despite the inclement weather!
So, when we were near town, we gave Alf a heads up that we not too far out, though we may lose signal (which we did.) While navigating through the dirt roads, Alf managed to track us down to help us navigate our way to the campsite as it was well past dark when we arrived!
With amenities available such as toilets, firewood, pit grills and a camper, we were not remotely worried about the change of weather that was coming our way (the weather forecast quickly changed from a mildly cold night to snowfall and low 30s.) There was AMPLE space for any size tent, RV or vehicle with a trailer! Had we the opportunity to stay longer, our Ford Transit was not going to do well in the accumulating snow, Alf had offered to let us see his Highland cattle, which are a STUNNING breed of cows!
While the campsite is well off from civilization, Devil's tower is only half an hour away, with plenty of wildlife to be spotted along the way if you keep your eye out for them! All that being said, this campsite is the PERFECT place to reset from rhythm of society!
