Five pioneer era trails came through our county including the Oregon, Mormon Pioneer, Pony Express, California and Bozeman trails. The ranch was originally settled back in the late 1800's and was part of the Fort Fetterman Hay Reservation. Fort Fetterman was established in 1867 as a major supply point for the army's operations to protect pioneers on the Bozeman Trail. Glenrock was once home to Deer Creek Station, an important stop along the trails in early years and a telegraph relay point following the demise of the Pony Express.

Creek & Cottonwoods RV Camping
We had a great view of the solar eclipse and the site was super easy to find right off of the highway. If you're looking for some place remote, this isn't it, but if you're looking for something with easy access to the highway and easy to find, this is the place. Note - there was a lower campsite in the trees that may have felt a little more remote and removed from the highway. It was right down by the creek, and very pretty. Just be sure to bring bug spray for that site since the mosquitos are also attracted to the water. Karen was a very friendly host and easy to communicate with. She also provided excellent directions in advance of our stay.

Karen was very friendly and worked hard to get everyone situated and satisfied. You won't be coming here to see a total eclipse, of course, but the lower camp had cottonwood trees and a nice, little creek. The dark sky was amazing with only a little light pollution to the north from the small town of Glenrock and to the west from Casper. The milky way was very bright.
