Stay in one of Stone Light Retreat's charming, Amish built cabins nestled in the secluded hilltop woods. These quaint cabins are furnished and include a bonfire pit plus access to the hilltop chapel, nature walking trails, stone circles and towers, walking labyrinth, zen garden plus many other nature enjoyments!

Stone Light is a magical place located in the middle of the ancient "Driftless Area" near Viroqua of southwestern Wisconsin http://viroqua-wisconsin.com/viroqua-tourism. It has an abundance of nature wonder with hills, bluffs, rivers, streams, valleys, forests and much more!

There are three cabins; the Crystal, Emerald and Sapphire. The Emerald and Sapphire accommodate four people while the Crystal accommodates two. The cabins are furnished, cozy and comfortable complete with battery powered & oil lamp lights while placed in peaceful nature free of the electrical power grid interference. There are clean, "designer" outhouses for each cabin retreat. Enjoy living simple in nature! There is a wood stove in the Emerald with heaters in the Sapphire and Crystal. Bathroom and shower facilities are available at the lodge.

There are many local attractions and activities such as; hiking, nature reserves, state parks, biking, markets, artisans, metaphysical store, cafes, small town festivals, food coop and other local services and shops.

The base daily rate ($114) in the pricing section is for 2 guests for one night. Please note that there are reduced rates the more nights you retreat at Stone Light! For example, the rate for two nights is $187, for three nights it is $261 and for seven nights it is $557. All rates include 5.5% state tax. Each additional guest is $20 per night. Further discounts are available for retreats longer then one week.

We booked our stay at the Emerald Cabin at Stone Light Retreat just days before we were set to stay. We already had a night at another Hipcamp a few hours away and we thought Stone Light would be the perfect place to stay on our way back to the Twin Cities. Steve, the camp host, was flexible enough to get our cabin ready in short notice.

First, we love the Driftless Area. This unique place amongst the generally flat Upper Midwest is a charmer. The drive from the east to Stone Light was no different. As you get closer to Viroqua the rolling hills and endless farms turn to an undulating landscape. A Midwesterner might mistake them for mountains. It's simply one of my favorite landscapes in Wisconsin.

Stone Light's a truly unique place. Not just a few cabins and a campsite, but a space meant for a spiritual escape amidst the pristine landscape. From Merlin's Rock to Stone Circle, there is something to pique your mystical interest. With an almost four year old daughter, the wishing well and zen stone garden were the most memorable. We had to experience each multiple times.

The emerald cabin was spacious with just about everything you'd need for an off the grid weekend. The dwelling is situated atop a hill that descends towards an outhouse and fire pit. We cooked on the quaint porch of the cabin and ate dinner under lantern light. Before bed we lit a few candles and spent time as a family. Our daughter was excited to sleep in the loft space. I can say we all slept soundly in the uncomplicated space.
