Barely over an hour from the Twin Cities, Silver Creek Springs' Bicycle Retreat is a must visit spot and we will be back ASAP. We loaded up and headed to Silver Creek, the first stop on an epic road trip and were happy for the short drive to start us out. The directions were perfect and we arrived without any trouble. We were greeted at the on-site bicycle shop and treated a tour of the property. As soon the car stopped the kids jumped out and started exploring. There is certainly no shortage of nooks to explore.
There are three campsites and we nabbed a spot right next to the property owner's home, in reach of the wifi, which was a wonderful perk for us work-on-the-road types. Along with a quick tour, we were also provided some information of the surrounding area. We were also gifted a homemade healing salve, made from ingredients grown right at Silver Creek, as well as a dozen fresh eggs from the chickens peering at us from their coop.
The afternoon was filled with exploring the nearby mowed trails in the prairie, splashing in the creek, hanging out with the resident cats and dogs, feeding the chickens, goofing off with the turkeys, and a short paddle on the edge of a nearby town. After rushing back to camp to catch the sunset from atop Casey's Hill, we enjoyed a camp fire with the provided wood and tucked ourselves in. We slept wonderfully.
The following day the kids helped out with chores in the garden and did some more exploring while I took advantage of the wifi and marveled at the most clean and comfortable compost toilet I have ever laid my eyes on.
We highly recommend a visit to the Bicycle Farm at Silver Creek Springs. The host communication, the location, the amenities, and the pleasant company will not disappoint!
This place is a true paradise! Stunning property with beautiful views, rolling hills, well groomed paths and a sparking creek. The camp spot had great trees for our hammock, plenty of shade, a nice picnic table and a fire pit. We really enjoyed biking in the forest nearby. We rented the bikes from The Creeky Wheel shop on the property. Tony made sure we were well fitted with our bikes and showed us where the best trails were. We also loved picking wild raspberries and blackberries on the farm. We had such an amazing stay at this place that we are already planning our next visit!
We spent the weekend here and absolutely loved it! Beautiful place to camp with endless options for adventure. The property has outstanding views, especially walking to the top of Casey’s hill. We enjoyed mountain biking nearby in the Barron County Forest, hanging out with all their friendly animals, and admiring the gorgeous garden and wildflowers! It was a great weekend escape.
My boyfriend and I had an enjoyable stay at Silver Creek Springs. Upon arriving we were greeted by the caretaker of the property. He showed us to our camping spot, gave us a tour, firewood, and even fresh eggs! The area to pitch our tent was a generous space with a picnic table, fire ring and small stream. Exploring the property, there are mowed trails to wander, a bench on top of a hill that was perfect for watching sunsets, and the nicest outhouse you will ever see. There is also a bicycle store on site that offers rental bikes and trails. Our stay was relaxing and the property has a lot of beauty to take in. The homestead itself seems to be a working project that will offer even more in the future and we cannot wait to return to see the new additions.
Both HipCamp and Silver Creek Springs were AWESOME!
Met college buddy haven't seen in years and we had a blast getting to know owners Tony & Lisa and all their wonderful farm animals.
The trails for biking are sweet, as well as the bike shops awesome fat tire bikes to rent.
Can't say enough good things about the experience.
Character in waves in this place.
Have been bragging to anyone who will listen about HipCamp and Silver Creek Springs!
The Bicycle Farm at Silver Creek was just right for us and worth going out of our way to stay in this beautiful spot! The host Tony was very friendly and helpful. The grounds were lovely with mowed trails, a garden, and lots of trees. The pull-in site is next to the host's house abut private enough with trees, soft grass, a nice fire pit, and picnic table. The host provided firewood, fresh eggs, and some salve made from their garden. The hosts' 3 dogs were very friendly. We had a great time and would definitely go back! Our only regret was not being able to see more of the trails as we had to hit the road. Thanks for the wonderful stay!
This was my first experience using hipcamp and I was blown away with how great this campsite was! The hosts were amazing, the site was beautiful and well cared for, and the property was perfect for seeing the sunset. On top of all that the amenities were top notch. The outhouse was very clean and did not smell bad, and there is a shower you can use with hot and cold water. We brought our own bikes to ride the trails but the bikes they have for rent are high quality and a great price as well. My wife and I have already decided we will be going back at some point and we want to bring friends as well! Do yourself a favor and camp here!!
