Thank you suburban camping
Walking back to the campsite was actually a really cool labyrinth style hike. Had we not been so tired upon arrival it would have been really exciting to explore a little more. The campsites all seemed spacious, and there was even a community site in the middle with cots, campfire pits, and a sink and garbage for dishes. Unexpectedly beautiful given the surrounded area so don’t judge a book by its cover. Although a brief conversation, Lori seemed like a very nice and accommodating person. One area of improvement would be finding the parking was difficult and not well lit, along with the paths back was dimly lit. We passed our campsite unknowingly on our way in. Would recommend for road trippers looking for a quaint area to stay for a night while traveling.
Great way to start camping
The best first experience ever !!! It was plenty of trails to walk on, a little kitchen area and fire pits built there, birds were a beauty in the morning! I would definitely go back again ☺️
Quiet and away from people. Would be a good place if you're camping light or biking or something like that. Sites are big enough for 2 smaller tents but the sites are spaced out enough so you have plenty of privacy.
We arrived at the campsites and to our surprise, it was much more isolated than we imagined especially for such a suburban area. The sites were nice and cozy and each included a fire pit. The water spicket was a comfortable walk from each of the campsites. There was a garbage collection area on site as well. The only downside was there were no toilets for your #2’s but with a 10min walk, there was a frisbee disk golf course near by with a port-a pottie. On site there is a common area with some stuff you may have forgotten and a neat place for all the campers to hang out together. It was very hot when we went camping and we were in search of a pool to go to. We went to two separate beaches, both within a 20min drive. Idle Isle Park was closer and was on a much bigger lake while the beach at Muskego County Park was smaller and more family oriented. A heads up for anyone thinking about camping here, just be aware that you will have to carry all of your stuff to your campsite so it maybe helpful to bring a wagon. Great place to stay at if you want to get away from society while still being close to it.
Good camping outside milwaukee
I had a great time camping here. Lori is a good host. She is responsive and helpful. Felt pretty private camping here if that’s what you’re looking for but there is also a communal area. 25 minutes outside Milwaukee.
Sites are nestled in the back of large area, and quite some distance from one another. Bringing a cooler with wheels is a good idea as you’ll walk a little bit on a trail to one of the sites.
Very pretty and calm. We went over July 4th weekend so the evenings were rather loud with individual fireworks going off, but that is almost certainly the exception not the rule.
If summer camping, there’s some lakes and parks to visit to stay cool that are within 15 min drive. The firewood on site is also a plus.
